Highlights

  • Suzune's determination to reach Class A influences all her decisions, regardless of how they may be perceived by others.
  • She often sacrifices her own well-being and health in pursuit of her goals, refusing to ask for help or take care of herself.
  • Suzune's constant need for her brother's approval limits her ability to live for herself and make independent choices.

In the Classroom of the Elite series, Suzune has her eyes rigidly set on her goal and will not let anything pull them away. She wants to get to Class A by any means necessary, as long as it is within the school rules, and for the longest time, it was because she wanted her brother’s acknowledgment and for him not to see her as a disgrace.

Due To Her Failure To Ask For Help In Action

Suzune in Classroom of the Elite

Suzune would rather stay in her room and read than interact with her peers, and it is no different when the school goes on a cruise. However, Suzune was sick, and it made sense for her to isolate, but her peers were not aware. Whose moral compasses are beyond repair, and which characters might be redeemable in Classroom of the Elite?

Not in the best shape, Suzune is hell-bent on not asking for help. She drags herself to carry out tasks and even becomes the leader. As the leader, she has the duty of protecting her identity and key card from the other classes, but when her classmates need her the most, she passes out during her fight with Mio Ibuki and is unable to get the key card back. The decision to ignore her health would have cost her and members of Class D some of their class points, but thanks to Ayanokoji, he was able to prevent that from happening.

4 The Constant Choice To Be Alone

Prevents Her From Forming Helpful Bonds

Suzune in Classroom of the Elite

Nothing comes for free in the Advanced Nurturing School, and Class D students had to learn that the hard way. To gain points and advance through the classes, it is in their best interest to unite without leaving anyone behind. Suzune is fully aware of this, and she still chooses to isolate herself from her peers when she can. In addition, she looks down on them. There are peak times she could have taken advantage of to get to know her classmates and align more with them, like during normal school hours, the summer break, the cruise, and even during the survival test. But she always chooses to stay back, and in some cases, Ayanokoji has to be the one to get her to interact.

During the summer break, she was always in her room, and if not for Ayanokoji intervening by inviting her to the pool, she would have stayed in there throughout. She is well aware of what allying with her peers will do to help her achieve her goal of getting to Class A, but she still chooses to stay back every now and then. Thankfully, she is gradually coming out of her comfort zone, forming bonds, and building relationships, thanks to Ayanokoji.

Signing A Deal That Has An Obvious Outcome With The Devil

kikyo kushida's true nature

Leave it to Suzune to sign a contract with her enemy. It is no surprise that Kushida hates Suzune and wants her expelled from school. Fully aware that Kusiha has been trying to sabotage her, Suzune decides to propose a bet to her. Suzune ends up winning the bet, but it could have easily gone south. According to the bet, the person with the highest individual score in the math section, a section that Kushida picked, of the Paper Shuffle Exams wins.

Kushida had devious plans in motion to get the test answers from Class C since they were the ones setting the questions for their class, Class D. Everything seemed to be in favor of Kushida until she saw the exam questions and realized that Ryuen from Class C played her. In the end, Suzune scored 18 points more than her, only thanks to Ayanokoji.

1 Letting Her Guard Down With Ayanokoji Kiyotaka

She Is Unaware He Controls Her

Ayanokoji in Classroom of the Elite

For most of season one, Suzune was hell-bent on not making friends and keeping her lone wolf status, but because of how much she chooses to go after her brother’s validation, she finds herself working on the shortcomings that her brother described (which is, her inability to work with others). Aware of her interaction with her brother and how he sees her, Ayanokoji steps in to stop Manabu from attacking her.

Ayanokoji catching Suzune in this vulnerable state causes her to let her guard down gradually, and by the end of the first season, she finds herself trusting Ayanokoji enough to consider him an ally. This decision to trust Ayanokoji seems like a good one until the final episode of season one, where Ayanokoji reveals that he does not see her as a friend or an ally but as a mere tool for his use.
