Classroom of the Elite: What to Expect From Season 3 (According to the Light Novel)

7 “But, Horikita, I’ve Never Once Thought Of You As An Ally. Not You. Not Kushida. Not Hirata. All People Are Nothing But Tools.”

Season 1, Episode 12

Ayanokoji

This statement captures the true essence of Ayonokoji. He looks exactly how he is, and others might think it is an act. He looks unsuspecting and acts lazy and uninterested. But Ayonokoji will use people to get what he wants, as he believes they are mere tools and pawns. This statement was an inner monologue Ayonokoji had during his conversation with Horikita.

Ayonokoji is responsible for leading Class D to victory on the special test that required all students to live on an island for seven days. He made himself the leader at the last minute, after dropping Horikita out of the test because she was sick. This move put Class D in the first position, and instead of taking credit for his work, he passed it to Horikita. She came to thank him for what he did, mentioning that she sees him as an ally, but Ayonokoji doesn't see her the same way.

6 “Truth? A Powerful But Double-edged Sword.”

Season 2, Episode 8

Ayanokoji

This is yet another powerful quote from Ayanokoji’s monologue. Ayanokoji said this during a conversation with Kushida and Horikita. Horikita makes a deal with Kushida. If Kushida passes her in the math section of the Paper Shuffle Exam, Horikita will voluntarily leave the school.

Ayanokoji finds himself involved in their agreement, when Kushida mentions she also wants him to leave the school if she fulfills her part of her deal with Horikita. He agrees, but tells Kushida to tell him about her past. In Kushida’s middle school, she used the truths and secrets of her classmates to turn them against each other. As much as the truth can set one free, it can also cause irreparable damage, and Ayanokoji knows this.

5 “I Intend To Choose My Own Path”

Season 2, Episode 10

Ayanokoji

Ayanokoji’s father makes an appearance in this episode, and fans get a glimpse into Ayanokoji’s past. Fans understand that he has been in a dicey situation with his father in a place called The White Room, and could only escape with the help of Matsuo, the family’s butler.

Season 2, Episode 12

Ayanokoji

Ayanokoji says this as he punches Ryuen continuously until his face swells and he sees fear in his eyes. The mistake Ayonokoji’s friends make is that they tend to underestimate him. Viewers and students have seen a glimpse of Ayanokoji’s physical strength and abilities during the sports festival in season two and his encounter with Manabu, Horikita’s brother, in season one.

Ayanokoji does not experience fear, pain, anger, or annoyance as most people do. Normally, one would feel joy or excitement when finally triumphant against their enemies, but not Ayanokoji. Ryuen is unaware of this. When he sees that Ayanokji does not have or feel any sort of emotion, fear, which he thought he was incapable of, grips him.

3 “Your Shortcomings Is That You Assume Others Will Hold You Back, And Put Them At A Distance From The Start.”

When she encounters an obstacle with her study group, Horikita is ready to give up because she cannot afford to let Sudo, Yamauchi, and Ike bring her down.

When Ichinose approaches him to act as her fake boyfriend to get her admirer off her back, he is not in the slightest bit interested. Ichinose is worried about hurting the feelings of her admirer, and would prefer if the person thought she was in a relationship rather than having to reject him.

Ayanokoji advises her to be direct with her feelings, and consider how difficult it must have been for the admirer to confess their feelings. This advice is quite thoughtful, coming from Ayanokoji, and Ichinose decides to follow it.

1 “Equality May Be A False Concept, But Our Inequality Remains A Difficult Thing To Accept.”

Season 1, Episode 1

Ayanokoji in Classroom of the Elite

Classroom of the Elite starts with an inner monologue about equality from Ayanokoji as he journeys to his new school via bus. In the real world, everyone talks about equality and how all humans are equal. As individuals grow, things change. Some people have the best without working for it, and others work tremendously hard to enjoy what some people have effortlessly.

Humans hate to be on the suffering end of inequality, and it is hard for them to accept when things are not in their favor. However, they do not extend the same grace when they are on the giving or favorable end.
