There are many way to achieve victory in Sid Meier's Civilization 6 with one of which being a religious victory. In order to do that, players need to found their own religion.

Religions and building them up in Civilization 6 are reliant on the faith currency. Unlike gold, food, and production, faith needs to be raised via various structures that can be built in cities within players' civilizations.

In order to create a proper religion, players first need to create a pantheon belief. This can be done after players obtain at least 25 faith. The benefits of the pantheon will automatically go to every city within the player's civilization.

Civ 6 Slimentology Religion

In order to create a proper religion that has a proper name that can be spread across the world, a Great Prophet needs to be born. If players start the game in the Industrial Era, Great Prophets will not be available. Like other Great People in Civilization 6, specific buildings, districts, and wonders put points toward the players getting a Great Prophet. These are:

  • Holy Site
  • Shrine
  • Prasat
  • Stave Church
  • Holy Site Prayers
  • Stonehenge (Automatically gives a free Great Prophet upon completion)

Once players get a Great Prophet, they can freely create their own Civ 6 religion with their own beliefs. Players have the option to use real-world religions as a base for their civilization's religion or they can create their very own. Players can then use their faith to buy missionaries and other religious units to spread their religion across the world.

When other cities and city-states are converted to a player's religion, they will also get the benefits provided by the religion's beliefs. This can make it enticing for non-religious civilizations to want to convert in order to get the benefits provided.

In order to pull off a religious victory in Civilization 6, the majority of cities in every civilization need to follow that player's religion. This requires taking advantage of trade routes and sometimes converting cities to the religion by force. This victory requires a lot of planning, but can catch other players off guard if they aren't looking for it.

Civilization 6 is available for iOS, Linux, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
