Upon its release, 2K and Firaxis Games' turn-based strategy title Civilization 6 was a massive success on Steam, as the sixth numbered entry in the long-running franchise having hit more than one million players within its first two weeks. Now, it looks as if the 2016 release is set to become more portable, with a recent post on the game's official website declaring that Civ 6 is set to launch for Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.

According to 2K Games, the Nintendo Switch release of Civilization 6 will not only include the base game, but also the four additional scenarios of the Vikings scenario pack, Poland civilization and scenario pack, Australia civilization and scenario pack, and the Persia and Macedon civilization and scenario pack. What's more is that the title will support competitive and cooperative play for up to four players over a local wireless connection.

Although Civilization 6 has been revealed as a forthcoming Nintendo Switch game, it's worth noting that the announcement related to the turn-based strategy game's port for the hybrid mobile console has since been taken offline. With this being the case, many are speculating whether or not Civ 6 was intended to be a part of the recently delayed Nintendo Direct, and was inadvertently posted at the time when it was originally supposed to go up.

At any rate, Civilization 6 coming to Nintendo Switch should excite those who own the system, especially since it is now going to be the sole console to support the critically-acclaimed game, with Civ 6 having originally been PC-only. So, taking all of this into consideration, it will definitely be interesting to see just how well Civilization 6 plays once it makes the leap to the Big N's latest piece of gaming hardware.

Civilization 6 is available now for PC, and is set to launch for Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.
