Citizen Sleeper is a gripping interplanetary RPG that brings players into a world unlike any other. However, this world can be a little confusing to manage, especially when looking at the different classes, regulations, and mechanics.

Luckily, as players go through this narrative game, they will quickly learn the best way to approach an NPC or a storyline without getting themselves in trouble. But by then, it could be too late to make a huge impact on that first playthrough. Here are some tips to make the first playthrough of Citizen Sleeper really count and for players to get the experience and ending they are looking for.

6 Be Sure To Regularly Stabilize

Speaking to Sabine

Staying alive is a particularly important aspect of Citizen Sleeper. Obviously, death is typically a bad thing in most RPGs and should definitely be avoided if possible. Luckily, there is a mechanism that allows players to stay alive for a bit longer.

That's the act of stabilizing. It's initially given to the player by Sabine for free, so it is easy for beginners to think they will be able to easily access this vital element. Unfortunately, that is not the case after the first free sample. Players should always make sure they have one prepared just in case it's needed, so be sure to stock up.

5 Specialize In One Thing

Machinist class

When initially starting Citizen Sleeper, the player has the opportunity to choose from a variety of classes, each with its own specializations and perks. This is a tough decision by itself, but it's worth looking at the Operator or Machinist unless players feel like they want to use brute strength. The Operator and Machinist classes are the most beginner-friendly and will have their uses throughout the game in non-violent confrontations.

Nevertheless, once the class has been selected, it can be easy to assume that it's worth specializing in as many skills as possible. However, trying to be good at everything limits the higher perks players can get, and will put them on the back foot throughout their playthrough. Try specializing in one or two things linked to the class. This way, players will be able to excel in what they need.

4 Explore Everything

Options in the map

In RPGs like Citizen Sleeper, exploration is vital. It can be easy to just stick with locations the player is comfortable with, but expanding one's knowledge and exploring more aspects of the ship will introduce new storylines, NPCs, quests and so much more. It's worth being careful of the situations players find themselves in, but nothing good will come if players just sit in the same place for the whole game.

Exploration will also unlock different locations which all have tasks to complete. So, if the player finds themselves a little bored or eager for a change, look around and find something new to see and experience.

3 Finish Scenes Before Ending A Cycle

Finish Scenes Before Ending A Cycle

Few things are more frustrating than wanting to end the cycle, only to be refused because there is still an active scene that needs to be finished. However, that will be a quick tell as to what the player needs to do before getting to the point they need to be. All that the player needs to do is finish the conversation they were meant to have with another character.

Simply look at the map, find the unfinished conversation, and finish it up. If the cycle ever refuses to finish, this is likely the problem.

2 Money Matters

Getting a job

As it typically goes with interplanetary capitalist experiences, money is one of the most important aspects of the game. Luckily, there are ways to create a steady stream of income with relatively few issues.

This is where the importance of specializing in certain aspects of the player's class comes in. Look for jobs that work with the players' specific specialization. This will grant the player a higher chance of success within that specific job, meaning they will be more likely to get promotions and more money. It's important to always have a bit of money left over as players go through the game.

1 Actions Matter

Actions Matter

This RPG has multiple endings, and each ending depends on the actions the player takes throughout the game. This both gives it replay value, and a sense that choices really matter. This only heightens the importance of talking to the right people and saying the right things over the course of the game.

With that in mind, players will need to think before they speak. If they do well, they will make new friends which will unlock new options, different stories and other quests that are well worth looking into because some of them will grant more income. Essentially, be nice, and think about the kind of character the player wants to be, then they should get an ending they deserve. If not, just try it all over again.

Citizen Sleeper is available now on Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PC.
