Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer Gets Rave Review From Important Source

In an interview with Tara Hitchcock, Nolan revealed how Pattinson played a part in him making Oppenheimer. Pattinson was in Nolan's last film Tenet, which references the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer. As a wrap gift, Pattinson gave Nolan a book of Oppenheimer's speeches from the 1950s. Nolan said, “You’re reading these great intellects trying to deal with the massive consequences of the way in which they’ve changed life forever, for all of us.”

Although Pattinson helped inspire Nolan to make the film, he is not a part of the star-studded cast. Nolan said this was because Pattinson "was busy" and "very much in demand these days." Pattinson, who plays the caped crusader in The Batman and its upcoming sequel, was also cast in the serial killer comedy Average Height, Average Build and Bong Joon-ho's sci-fi film Mickey-17, which comes out in 2024. It's fair to say that Pattinson has been busy with other projects.

Pattinson won’t be in the film, but Oppenheimer is still packed with other stars. The cast includes Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, and more. Along with its many stars, the film has already been well-reviewed. After a successful Oppenheimer CinemaCon screening, Nolan said, “I know of no more dramatic tale with higher stakes, twists and turns, and ethical dilemmas."

Along with the overwhelming weight of tragedy that the film is about, the details surrounding Oppenheimer have helped grow the anticipation. The IMAX film reel is 11 miles long and weighs 600 pounds, while it is also reported that there will be no CGI in the film, and the nuclear blast will be recreated through practical effects that audiences can “feel” in the cinema.

Oppenheimer releases in theaters on July 21st, 2023.
