Chris Pratt's unexpected casting as the beloved Super Mario continues to divide Nintendo fans, with many intrigued by what that will sound like. However, thanks to a good old Super Mario Bros. hack, there’s now a terrifying preview of that on the internet.

The decision to cast Pratt in the Super Mario film mainly shocked those feeling that long-time Mario voice actor Charles Martinet deserved it more, even accounting for his lack of feature film work. Among the entire cast announced by Nintendo, Pratt was definitely the standout name, with the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and Charlie Day all being either more welcomed additions or at least given the benefit of the doubt.

Although fans may still have to wait a bit to hear Pratt's first “Let’s-a-go” in an official trailer, a fan-made game compiles some of the actors' most awkward movie lines for an annoying and absolutely ghastly adventure in Chris Pratt is Super Mario. The hack game, made by Woe Industries, is readily available online and consists solely of the first level of Super Mario Bros. At the time of writing, it has still not been taken down by Nintendo's legal eagle.

Woe Industries Chris Pratt is Super Mario

Suffice to say, this is no triple-A wonder like Super Mario Odyssey, but it is a funny take that even comes with a nice Pratt easter egg for those who can live through an entire level of hearing Mario yell “Jumping jacks!” every time they hit the space bar. The rest of the lines include dinosaur quotes and over-the-top exclamations that will surely ring a bell for anyone familiar with Pratt’s work in Guardians of the Galaxy, The Lego Movie, and Jurassic World.

Even Illumination’s head producer has jumped to Pratt's defense as Mario, speaking highly of the early voiceover work being done by the actors while the film is in production. In all honesty, it’s pretty hard to figure out what a feature film Mario should sound and look like, considering the plumber’s adventures usually lack too much of a plot besides the usual Bowser kidnaps Peach trope.

Nintendo will surely be quite careful of how it handles its prime asset in this new movie project, especially after the massive failure that was the '90s Mario movie and the possibility of further films featuring more Nintendo characters in an age where video game movies like Sonic The Hedgehog 2 continue to get better. Well, unless you're Resident Evil, of course.

The Super Mario movie is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2022.
