With the release of the fourth standalone Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder, actor Chris Hemsworth celebrates playing the iconic role for over a decade and teases what the future could hold for the God of Thunder within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Evidently, Hemsworth hopes that the future includes a role in Deadpool 3.

With the recent rebranding of the Asgardian hero in the 2017 standalone Thor: Ragnarok, the hero's legacy has been successfully changed within the on-screen comic book universe. Now, Thor is one of the most comical of the bunch among Earth’s mightiest, and that seems to continue with Thor: Love and Thunder.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 to promote Thor: Love and Thunder, which hits theaters in July, Hemsworth discusses what's to be expected in the newest Marvel Studios adventure. In addition to this, interviewer Ali Plumb applauded Hemsworth for his devotion to the Thor franchise for the past 11 years, jokingly telling him that “this gig has paid off.” Bouncing off of this, Plumb makes a connection to the actor Hugh Jackman, who’s been playing the role of Wolverine for 16 years, teasing that he’s Hemsworth's rival for the trophy of the actor to portray a role of a hero for the longest duration.

Hemsworth, when asked if he’d continue to play the role of Thor for six more years to beat out Jackson, jokes that he might just do that, saying, “I’ve come this far.” As Hemsworth and Plumb continue their banter the topic of Deadpool 3 arises. In response, Hemsworth says, “I might just put myself in Deadpool instead. That would be the offering I think, you know, see if that passes.”

It’s been recently revealed that Deadpool will become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there were even talks of him making his first appearance in the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, the writer decided that it wasn’t the right time to bring the fan-favorite anti-hero into the universe quite yet.

However, with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool character set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe very soon, Hemsworth's Thor making a cameo in the upcoming Deadpool 3 isn’t that crazy of an idea, especially considering Hemsworth is open to the idea of reprising his character in the film. Deadpool 3 is currently in pre-production, and with the other outlandish cameos Marvel fans have received in the past, the chance that Thor and Deadpool could come together is a major possibility.

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in theaters on July 8, 2022.
