Earlier this November, Avengers star Chris Evans was announced as People's Sexiest Man Alive. It appears his co-stars didn't let him live it down, however, and according to Chris Hemsworth, the former Captain America star was ruthlessly roasted in their group chat.

People Magazine has run its "Sexiest Man Alive" feature for nearly forty years. Beginning in 1985, it's been a pop culture mainstay, usually centering around a popular actor, singer, or athlete in the middle of their heyday. Just last year, Evans' fellow Avengers co-star Paul Rudd was selected for the magazine's honor. Other recent inductees include Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba, and even Hemsworth himself back in 2014.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Hemsworth recalled the responses to Evans' selection. According to Hemsworth, the original six Avengers maintain a group chat with one another (he credits Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner for keeping it full of filth). Because Evans appeared on the cover of People with his hands behind his back, Hemsworth said, “It very quickly was like, ‘What are you doing with your hands back there?' Downey said he’s being arrested. I said it was a beautiful mugshot. Then Jeremy Renner said a series of things which we won’t repeat.”

Hemsworth did offer congratulations to Evans, saying, “he’s indeed a sexy man. So well done, you know? Thank your parents!” He was referencing an earlier quote from Evans in which he said, “My mom will be so happy. She’s proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about.” It appears that 10 years after The Avengers hit theaters, the cast is still as close as ever.

It's not the first time that one cast member has joked about the attractiveness of another. After Jonathan Majors revealed his physique for Creed 3, Simu Liu joked that he worried for the safety of the Avengers. Majors plays Kang the Conqueror, who's set to be the main villain in the next film in the series, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Liu, meanwhile, plays the Avenger Shang-Chi.

The movies and television shows have had no qualms joking about Captain America's attractiveness. Aside from the infamous Avengers: Endgame scene in which Captain America comments on his physique, She-Hulk has also speculated about his sex life and various characters have commented on being attracted to the big blue boy scout.

The Avengers films are now available on Disney Plus.
