Companions always make any open-world game better, as well as less lonely. 30 years after the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl is where the new survival game Chernobylite takes place. The game follows the player character searching the radiated Chernobyl Exclusion Zone for their lost significant other while fighting off enemies known as "Stalkers." Throughout their journey, the player will come across five other people who give the option to be recruited as companions.

The best perk for finding and recruiting these people is that once they're in the base, companions can train the player in various skills. Training can be as simple as choosing dialogue options or as complex as running an obstacle course. While Chernobylite is not the kind of game where companions will stick by the player's side no matter what, the game does keep track of the player's actions, which will influence whether certain companions approve of the player or not. Once the relationship reaches "Terrible," that companion will leave the group. So players should be careful about their decisions if they want to keep all of the companions.

While Chernobylite is currently only available on PC, it will arrive on consoles later this year.

Olivier

Mikhail

Players can find Mikhail during the quest aptly named "Mikhail in Trouble." The mission takes place in the Eye of Moscow, and players have a time limit of 1 day to complete it. The quest involves Mikhail informing the player that he is stuck where the player finished the Hack NAR Servers quest and asking for help.

Mikhail lives in a radiated part of town, so players should be certain that they have a gas mask ready before starting this quest. Once players save Mikhail, they can then recruit him as part of their team.

Later, during the mission "A Voice in the Woods," players will find the scavenger in a cell inside Olga's camp. If the player frees the scavenger, he will then tell Olga about the player's kind gesture. Once Olga hears about the player's actions, she will be available as a recruitable companion.

Later on, the player will be given the mission "The Crumb Trail." Tarakan is being hunted by NAR soldiers and it's up to the player to save him. After players kill all of the NAR soldiers, Tarakan will join their team and become a potential companion.

Sashko

Sashko companion from Chernobylite

Sashko first appears early on in Chernobylite, during the mission "A Memento From The Past." Though Sashko will introduce himself here, he won't be able to become a companion until much later in the game. In fact, Sashko is the last companion players will recruit, although he is arguably also the easiest to recruit.

Players will encounter Sashko again during the mission "The Final Exam." After reaching the third floor of the building, Sashko will be waiting. He'll ask the player to take a "leap of faith." In this case, a leap of faith is a leap from the third story onto the pavement below. Fortunately, it's a safe landing. After watching the player jump, he'll join the team and be available to recruit as a companion. Sashko's skills actually perfectly match Olivier's skills, but that doesn't mean that he isn't worth recruiting.
