The future is here, as a developer was able to craft the code for a complete, fully functional game in under a minute using ChatGPT-4. It seems that Microsoft’s OpenAI has been really taking its machine learning chatbot to the next level, and creating simple games may be the start of a new era for game development.ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot powered by machine learning. It surprised the whole world last year when it was launched by OpenAI, a tech startup owned by Microsoft. The program is a language model that mimics human language in a natural way using probabilities based on its intensive training. It can engage in conversations with the user, give tips, or cite information from the internet, for example. The bot was such a huge hit that even programs such as Discord is already implementing it on its servers. ChatGPT-4, the new iteration of the model, also comes with unbelievably good coding skills, which are much better than its predecessor.RELATED: Sony May Be Working on its Own AI AssistantSoon after the launch of GPT-4, AI developer Pietro Schirano shared his interaction with the bot, recreating the famous Pong game in less than 60 seconds with a few prompts. First, he told the program that it would help him to write code, and then it made it create a version of Pong with the best possible coding language by using one specific program to build it. ChatGPT-4 created the code and a fully functional game on the first attempt.

In the comments, people asked whether the previous version of ChatGPT could do this, and Schirano replied that it made several errors before, needing proper debugging, which took some time. Now, it could do it on the first attempt. Another user asked for a version of the classic Breakout game, which Schirano was also able to create with a single attempt. While other uses of ChatGPT for games are not unknown, such as using it to generate new quests in Skyrim, they were not used to create whole games so quickly before, only implementing a few tweaks.

It seems that ChatGPT and similar AI programs may become fairly useful for developers. Not only they can be used in creating code, but also in evaluating it and searching for answers. For example, recently a Fortnite leaker used ChatGPT to decipher code from the game’s latest season. The results were fairly accurate and helped to showcase how powerful these tools can be when used properly.
