The cast and crew are back on set to film the tenth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, and Charlize Theron has shared the first behind-the-scenes images to confirm her popular character’s return. The Oscar-winner actor took to social media to share the news while revealing Cipher's new look in Fast X and welcoming Jason Momoa, one of the latest members to join the Fast cast roster.

Theron's Cipher first appeared in the Fast and Furious franchise in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. She was shown to be a cyberterrorist who manipulates Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto into betraying his own crew members. She made another appearance in F9: The Fast Saga, and will now be going up against Dom and his family in Fast X as well. It seems like her character will be working with Momoa's villain.

Just a few days ago, Vin Diesel confirmed that Fast X had begun filming on his Instagram account, and shared the official logo for the upcoming film. As part of her Instagram post, Theron shared the caption, “She’s back baby #FastX.” The post included black and white images of Theron posing on-set, with the first image seemingly taken in perhaps an elevator, as two co-stars look on. The second image shows Theron surrounded by cast members, cameras, and lights as she gets ready to film a scene. The most prominent feature of the images is Theron's new haircut, which is different from Cipher's previous looks in the Fast and Furious franchise.

After announcing Cipher's return, Theron took to Instagram again to welcome Momoa to the family. The two pose together on the same set of Fast X, and the caption reads, “Look who decided to join the party #FastX.” Momoa himself confirmed earlier this year that he was playing the main antagonist in the upcoming action flick, referring to his role as a “very flamboyant bad boy.” There is, however, no confirmation yet on the details of his role, or whether he will be related to Dom's crew in any way.

Previously, the list of villains in the Fast and Furious franchise included Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw in Fast and Furious 6, Dwayne Johnson as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five, and John Cena as Jakob Toretto in F9: The Fast Saga. All of these antagonists eventually joined the team of the good guys, and Cena's Toretto was revealed as Dom's long-lost brother. It remains unclear at this point whether Momoa's character will be following a similar path, but fans are excited to see his journey nonetheless.

Fast X is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 19, 2023.
