An Assassin and a Devil Hunter

Chainsaw Man Quanxi Assassin Devil Hunter

The first time Quanxi appears in the series is as an assassin for the Chinese Government. It’s unclear whether or not she works exclusively for them, after all, she is also a private devil hunter. But from the brief interaction that we can see, it’s clear that Quanxi is a valuable asset to them and they are willing to grant everything she wants in exchange for her invaluable service. Unlike the other assassins in the International Assassins arc, however, Quanxi herself doesn’t seem to have any interest in Denji or how the Chainsaw Man’s heart is said to be able to tremendously increase her power. In her mind, it is nothing more than a job.

Quanxi is quite well-known in the Devil Hunter world. As soon as the Japanese Public Safety Devil Hunters receive the news that the Chinese Government has sent Quanxi to take out Denji, both Makima and Kishibe are visibly concerted. They instantly know that the danger level has gone through the roof and they have to work extra hard to ensure Denji’s safety.

Interestingly enough, the reason why they are familiar with Quanxi is because before she entered the Assassin business, Quanxi was a regular devil hunter. Not only that, she had actually worked together with Kishibe before as part of the Public Safety Devil Hunters. They were a partner for almost a decade, during which Kishibe seemed to develop a one-sided romantic feeling for Quanxi.

After the end of the first part of Chainsaw Man, Quanxi is nowhere to be seen. Some say that she lost her life during the great fight, while others think that she simply goes hiding. To everyone’s surprise, Quanxi appears out of nowhere during a chaotic riot involving Chainsaw Man. What’s more, she is now a member of the Public Safety Devil Hunters. It’s unclear why she becomes a member of Public Safety Devil Hunters once again, but the manga will likely elaborate more about this in the subsequent chapters.

The Devil Hybrid and Her Fiends

Chainsaw Man Quanxi Hybrid Fiends

The previous section has already mentioned that Quanxi used to be a devil hunter before she decided to go into the private sector. What we haven’t mentioned yet is the fact that Quanxi is known as “The First Devil Hunter''. Though it’s hard to believe, there might be some truth to that moniker. After all, Quanxi is not a regular human being. She is actually a devil hybrid, just like Denji. So it’s entirely possible for her to live and hunt devils for thousands of years already.

Quanxi is a hybrid between a human and the Bow Devil. That being said, she is already strong enough in her human form, so she rarely needs to use her devil form. To transform into the hybrid form, she pulls a dagger-like object out of her right eye socket, which is usually covered by an eye patch. In her Hybrid form, only her head and arms are fully transformed, while the rest of her body looks like a regular human, just like the other Devil Hybrids in the series.

During the International Assassination Arc, Quanxi is seen together with four Fiends named Cosmo, Pingtsi, Long, and Tsugihagi. They are Quanxi’s girlfriends and sidekicks. All five of them live and travel together. During battles, the Fiends are usually tasked to get rid of the small fries as Quanxi goes after the big boss. Quanxi cares deeply about the well-being of her Fiends and seems to want them to lead normal lives as much as possible. Likewise, Cosmo and the other Fiends also love and respect Quanxi very much and want to help her as much as they can.

Power and Combat Abilities

Chainsaw Man Quanxi Devil Hybrid Hunter

Quanxi is quite possibly the strongest devil hunter in the world of Chainsaw Man. Kishibe even goes so far as to say, “If the entirety of humanity came together and held a bare-knuckle fighting tournament, Quanxi would take first place.”

As Denji and the other Devil Hybrids like Katana Man have demonstrated, other than enhanced durability and regenerative ability, Devil Hybrids are similar to regular human beings while they are still in their human form. But Quanxi is different. She is already super powerful even before she transforms into the Bow Devil. Her most notable traits are her absurd strength and speed. Quanxi can move faster than a human’s eye can perceive and she can easily throw a relatively big man like Kishibe from one building to the next.

Furthermore, Quanxi is also an expert in both hand-to-hand combat and sword fighting. She uses her absurd strength and speed to instantly slash her enemies. In the International Assassination arc, with a sword in both hands, Quanxi beheads about 50 people in a blink of an eye. As a result of receiving such a tremendous amount of force in a matter of seconds, her swords often break down after a single use, which is why she always carries at least three swords on her hip.

When Quanxi transforms into her Devil Hybrid form, her fighting style drastically changes. In this form, she prefers to attack the enemies using the Bow Devil’s arrows. She can shoot countless arrows in any direction at the same time. Not only that, each arrow carries enough force to blow up a human’s body upon contact. As if that is not powerful enough, Quanxi can also snipe her opponent from hundreds of miles away, piercing anything that stands in the arrow's path.

To conclude, in her human form, Quanxi is basically unbeatable when it comes to close-quarters combat. In her Bow Devil form, Quanxi can shoot any enemies in any direction with torrents of armor-piercing arrows, making her the master of medium to long-range combat. Based on that fact, it’s not an exaggeration to say that she is the strongest Devil Hunter in Chainsaw Man.
