The Witcher is a fantastic series beloved by many that's succeeded in branching out to other forms of media, mostly thanks to its quality games and original novels. The games include a wide range of dynamic characters each involved with a plotline or two.

The Witcher games are not small by any means, and with such a vast series, it makes sense that some characters, plot points, and details had to be left out. With that being said and with spoilers ahead, here are 10 plotlines The Witcher 4 would need to resolve.

10 The Last Wish

The Last Wish is undoubtedly one of the most critical plotlines in The Witcher series, especially with it being the name of the first book and all. It is also one of the most prominent plot points, as it appears in the series and even as a side mission in The Witcher 3. Though the story behind it is highly explained in some aspects, it's also quite mysterious.

Simply put, The Last Wish centers around Geralt and Yennefer. After an incident involving Dandelion and a Djinn, Geralt was forced to make a wish to save Yennefer's life. The wish itself is what we know nothing about. Many have speculated on its nature, but it was never confirmed. All that is known is that it binds their fates together. If the next game still follows Geralt's story, we would love to know what that wish was, CD Projekt Red.

9 The Salamandra

The Salamandra was a criminal organization and the main antagonists of the first Witcher game. After attacking Kaer Morhen and even managing to kill a Witcher-in-training, they were quite a force to be reckoned with. Still, after their leaders were killed off and the majority of the gang defeated in Vizima, the Salamandra's history seemed to vanish into thin air.

While they were briefly mentioned when the Witchers reminisce about their encounter in The Witcher 2, the games do not mention the Salamandra again after that point. As the main driving point of the first game, it is surprising how little is learned about them.

This, however, can be fixed in The Witcher 4. Just like The Witcher 3 saw the return of the Wild Hunt from a previous title, the Salamandra can simply make a return in the next entry.

8 Adda The White

Continuing from the first Witcher game, Adda is quite an important character. Due to her infliction with a curse, Adda was born a Striga and remained so for a long time. That is until Geralt, after a long battle, was able to lift the curse (assuming the player was successful).

After the events of The Witcher, though, Adda The White is not mentioned again. Despite becoming the wife of Radovid and even the Queen of Redania, she isn't seen again after the first game. In The Witcher 2, there are several references to her and the events of the previous game, but in The Witcher 3, she is entirely absent and is mentioned only once in a single old letter, found in the courtyard in Vizima.

We're unsure of why the developers left her out but included Radovid in The Witcher 3, but she can easily be included in The Witcher 4; perhaps, her experience as a queen would be brought to light.

7 Iorveth & The Squirrels

Iorveth in The Witcher 2

The infamous leader of the squirrels was an important character in The Witcher 2. Serving as a significant plot point, players had the choice to choose between himself and Vernon Roche. Though his ways were flawed, Iorveth played a vital role in the lore of The Witcher 2.

After the second game, he too became a character that failed to appear again. The even sadder part is that Iorveth was set to make an appearance in The Witcher 3, but the developers thought it would be too tedious to introduce his character. So, he was eventually scrapped. Though it made sense, he still would've been presented in any of the games DLCs. Sadly, that never happened.

With a Witcher 4, however, Iorveth could easily make his return as an essential character once again. Or at least a chance to explain what happened to him.

6 The Lodge Of Sorceresses

The Lodge of Sorceresses has played a pivotal role in all The Witcher games since their introduction in the first entry. In The Witcher 2, they schemed to throw the northern kingdoms into disarray, and in The Witcher 3, they helped Geralt defeat The Wild Hunt. After the fall of The Wild Hunt, the lodge is not seen or heard much. We never find out if their goals were achieved or if Emhyr indeed granted them amnesty.

Nevertheless, as necessary as The Lodge of Sorceresses is to The Witcher's lore and the overall story, there is no doubt they will appear again in the next Witcher game. Or, at least, we hope so.

5 Saskia & The Free State

The free state of Vergen is a land free of prejudice where all non-humans can live equally. It was created by Saesenthessis, better known as Saskia, who was a prominent character in The Witcher 2. However, players don't see her or hear anything of the free state in any subsequent games.

Plot-wise, it makes sense she doesn't make an appearance in The Wild Hunt. As Vergen is a faraway land and Saskia wouldn't just leave her people. That said, it would have been nice if The Witcher had, at least, revealed her fate. A Nilfgaardian invasion was mentioned in a comic, however, but nothing more.

The Witcher 4 provides an opportunity to explain what happened to Saskia and her free state.

4 Avallac'h

Another important character from The Witcher 3 that was criminally disregarded. Avallac'h was an elf who betrayed his kind, The Wild Hunt, to mentor Ciri and help stop the white frost. Everyone expected Avallac'h to betray Ciri halfway through the game and reveal his plan, but he never did.

Instead, fans were left with questions. In the final act, after helping Ciri stop the white frost (if she is successful), Avallac'h disappears and is not heard from again. What happened to him? Did he return to his homeworld? Does their civilization return to its former glory? These are all questions The Witcher 4 can answer.

3 The White Frost

Speaking of the white frost, we are still left wondering what its true nature is. Is it truly a destroyer of worlds? A natural event? Or an influx of magical energy.

In The Witcher books, it is a foretold prophecy doomed to befall the world in three thousand years, entrapping it in an ice age. In the games, however, its nature, though similar, is left vague. Perhaps, it will be a significant plot point in the next Witcher game.

2 Ciri's Travels

As it is shown clearly in The Witcher 3 numerous times, Ciri is incredibly powerful. What is less clear is the full extent of her powers and how she uses them. In The Witcher 3, Ciri tells Geralt her experiences during their time apart.

Ciri mentions traveling between dimensions and even tells a story suspiciously similar to the premise of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red's next blockbuster game. Where exactly did she go? And what did she experience? We hope to find out in the next Witcher game.

1 Geralt's Missing Days

geralt

Before any of the events in The Witcher 3, and right before The Witcher, Geralt is dropped half dead in front of Kaer Morhen. He then loses his memories of what happened and even some of the people in his life.

It is said (in The Witcher 2) that during his time away, he served The Wild Hunt and rode among them. What his servitude entailed or what happened during those days was left unexplained. It would be exciting to learn about this time in Geralt's life in the next Witcher game.
