CD Projekt RED gives fans a positive update about the Cyberpunk 2077 release date after some wondered if the game could be delayed again. The developer has confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 team is working from home because of COVID-19, prompting some to ask if the game would be ready for September.

Speaking to investors in a new financial report, CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kicinski said that the company's plans for the Cyberpunk 2077 release date "haven't changed." The company intends to release Cyberpunk 2077 in September, as it has announced and the team feels "motivated and have the necessary tools at our disposal to meet this goal." Kicinski also said that the company's "longstanding strategy of avoiding debt and accumulating cash reserves makes us well prepared to meet any hardships which may be in store during these troubled times."

Adam Badowski, the head of studio at CD Projekt RED, also tweeted today to confirm that the game has been rated "by the vast majority of rating boards around the world" after being submitted for ratings in March. In Japan, the game rating board CERO has closed because of COVID-19 and this could have led to some game delays in the region. However, this all suggests that Cyberpunk 2077 will be ready and rated for September.

Submitting the game to a ratings board also means that no new content will be added to it before release. CD Projekt RED may only need to fix parts of the game and no major development may need to be done before September.

Fans will be delighted with this news after seeing several other games and DLC delayed because of COVID-19. Today, Cradle Games announced that sci-fi RPG Hellpoint has been delayed from April 16 to later in the year. Other developers, which have found it difficult to get their teams working from home or to release physical copies of their game at retail, has also delayed titles.

If CD Projekt RED is only thinking about fixing technical issues with its game, fans should be able to expect more information about Cyberpunk 2077 soon. Earlier this week, the developer revealed Cyberpunk 2077 gang The Mox and said that they protect sex workers. The company also confirmed that it would be the first in a series of info drops about the game's gangs, suggesting that more screenshots or possibly a new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay video are all being created.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development and is set for release on September 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
