Captain America: Brave New World's potential villain might been leaked via a LEGO set. But as unofficial as the claim is, it tracks with what people already know about the movie.

Over the years, LEGO sets have been a surprisingly reliable source of small leaks. Even the appearance of Hera's son Jacen was teased via an Ahsoka-themed LEGO release well before that series debuted. But sometimes, a big one comes along. That seems to be the case here, with an unconfirmed claim from a prominent LEGO leaker bringing up a substantial character set to appear in the new Captain America film. However, many fans may have predicted this one long ago.

As uncovered by the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, an upcoming LEGO collection tied in with Captain America: Brave New World seems to feature none other than Red Hulk as one of its characters. Assuming the claim is correct, this would be the first real indication that Red Hulk will appear. Along with the obvious, like Sam Wilson/Captain America, the set will also reportedly feature Joaquin Torres (the new Falcon) and Israeli mutant superhero Ruth Bat-Seraph (Sabra). There's some controversy surrounding Sabra, given how her comic version often depicted Palestinian and Arab people in insensitive lights. But it seems Marvel Studios wants to make a new version of the character, hopefully standing against genocide.

As for Red Hulk, this may be a surprise to some. But to others, it's probably just an announcement they've been waiting for. When it was announced that Harrison Ford would play Thunderbolt Ross after the tragic passing of William Hurt, long-time fans immediately began speculating that Captain America: Brave New World would be the movie where Ross finally turns into the Red Hulk as he does in the comics. In the original stories, Ross was secretly Bruce Banner's/The Hulk's nemesis Red Hulk, despite already having a long history as himself in the Hulk comic series. Having pursued Bruce as both General Ross and the near-immortal Red Hulk, he's an important figure to Hulk in that deranged, clingy villain kind of way.

But why is he appearing in a Captain America movie? Well, this is Marvel, after all. It's rare to see a movie truly stand alone as its own thing. The Marvels got pretty close, and it was a super fun film for that reason and others, even sporting one of the best Marvel movie moments of 2023. But it still included some stingers at the end for spinoffs and other movies, and it looks like Brave New World is keeping that comprehensive trend alive. Many have assumed that it will ultimately set up the next Hulk film, and the presence of a prominent Hulk villain seems to be a good indicator of that end.

There's already much to look forward to regarding Captain America: Brave New World. Seeing Anthony Mackie finally lead his own movie as Captain America is enough to make it worth checking out. But here's hoping it doesn't get too focused on looking forward to whatever comes next when living in the moment with Sam Wilson is always worthwhile.

Captain America: Brave New World currently aims to release on February 14th, 2025.
