Capcom is a company that has made waves in the gaming industry time and time again. The slew of amazing titles they've developed has helped the company skyrocket in terms of market influence, allowing the studio to generate hype pretty easily for most of the games they either develop or publish.

Given their role in developing some of the most iconic video games of all time, it goes without saying that the antagonists across most of these games are also pretty popular in their own right. Some of these villains have caused untold death and destruction in the games they're featured in, with the most diabolical enemies of the bunch being mentioned below.

8 Albert Wesker – Resident Evil

The Resident Evil series has featured some of the greatest villainous characters in gaming history. Albert Wesker is no exception to this golden rule, with this imposing figure being a pretty challenging and intimidating villain across his stint in the Resident Evil series.

His initial betrayal is still fresh in the mind of many fans, and the numerous people he's sacrificed in his goal to become one of the strongest humans alive is simply heinous. While the latest titles have muted his presence somewhat, his influence is still palpable across the series. It wouldn't be surprising if the next title in the Resident Evil series features the much-awaited return of this villain.

7 Akuma – Street Fighter

Akuma is a pretty legendary character from the Street Fighter series whose character design makes it clear from the get-go that he's meant to be anything but a positive character. His backstory is pretty dark as well, with the character mastering some really murderous martial art techniques to dispose of both his sensei and his brother too!

After this, Akuma's lust for battle and death was so intense that he scoured the countryside, leaving a pile of bodies in his wake. He's a murderous demon, although there's no denying the fact that controlling him is a ton of fun!

6 Vergil – Devil May Cry

Vergil-of-Devil-May-Cry

The Devil May Cry series is filled to the brim with powerful villains that the player needs to deal with by putting every ounce of their energy into defeating these powerful beings. Vergil is one such character whom players love for his audacious nature and legendary stature across the entire franchise.

That being said, Vergil is a pretty dark villain who won't stop at any length to get what he wants, even if it leads to major collateral damage. His backstory is pretty tragic and sheds some light on why his personality is so much different from his brother, Dante. That being said, Vergil has toned down his murderous rage over the course of the series, although that doesn't absolve him of his misdoings.

5 Dr. Wily – Mega Man

Dr. Wily from Mega Man

It's hard to imagine a franchise like Mega Man to have a really destructive villain. However, since Dr. Wily's plan is to take over the world time and time again, it's easy to see why some people might perceive his actions to be highly detrimental in more ways than one.

Of course, Mega Man always comes to the rescue and thwarts this evil villain's plans before they see the light of day. This is always a source of relief, especially since Dr. Wily doesn't seem like someone stable enough to run a country in the first place.

4 Manfred Von Karma – Phoenix Wright

Manfred Von Karma from Ace Attorney

Manfred von Karma isn't a violent villain in the conventional sense. He's a legendary prosecutor who had won each and every one of his trials...before he encountered Phoenix Wright, that is. It was during the final trial of the first game that the truth of his diabolical nature came to light.

Manfred von Karma's body count might not be as high as most people on this list, but there's no denying that his horrible actions initiated a chain of events that influenced the legal system in many ways and has potentially sent a lot of innocent people to serve unjust sentences in prison. Thankfully, the final trial puts his villainous streak to bed and lets Miles Edgeworth finally get over the death of his father once and for all.

3 Chakravartin – Asura's Wrath

Chakravartin from Asura's Wrath

Asura's Wrath is a series filled with massive and powerful villains that can destroy the entire Earth — if not the universe — in one fell swoop. The final boss of the game, Chakravartin, is easily one of the most heinous of the lot, mainly due to the fact that he seems like a good being but turns out to be absolutely despicable.

He has no regard for human life and lacks a shred of empathy, making him a pretty horrible divine being. Finally getting the opportunity to beat this enemy to a living pulp makes for one of the most satisfactory moments in video game history.

2 Nemesis – Resident Evil

Another villain from the Resident Evil series rears its ugly head in the form of Nemesis. This Tyrant was one of the most intimidating villains in the third game, leaving a trail of bodies wherever he went.

Thankfully, the mutations that made him powerful also overrode common sense and rendered him slightly more ineffective in battle over time. This finally left this villain vulnerable and allowed Jill Valentine to take care of this threat once and for all.

1 M. Bison – Street Fighter

M. Bison in Street Fighter V

Any diabolical villain that strives to be a dictator is bound to be a pretty shady and ruthless character indeed. This is precisely the case with M. Bison from Street Fighter, who hosted the tournament in the legendary Street Fighter 2 as well!

It's clear that M. Bison doesn't care about anyone and will achieve his goals through whatever means necessary. The fact that he wanted to take over Ryu's body too shows just how little regard he really has for human life.
