The Resident Evil series may be getting more remakes in the future, as implied by a survey issued by Capcom. The company responsible for the Resident Evil series has been remaking games in the franchise, all of which have been critically acclaimed, and it doesn't show signs of stopping anytime soon.

Capcom has arguably taken the Resident Evil series to the next level, thanks to the solid slate of titles like the highly-regarded Resident Evil 4 Remake. Fans have been wondering whether Resident Evil 9 would be the next game developed by the company to follow the events brought by Resident Evil Village or if another game in the franchise would get a remake instead. It seems the latter may win out.

Recently, Capcom fueled rumors about where the series' future lies thanks to a survey that asked players about their interests surrounding the Resident Evil series. Some questions asked players about the Ambassador Program, RENet, and other miscellaneous parts of the franchise such as novels, stage performances, amusement rides, and movies. However, one of the final questions is about which game in the Resident Evil series fans want to see remade. Perhaps one of the most popular answers is Resident Evil: Code Veronica, the spin-off of sorts that connects to Resident Evil 2 and its events.

Capcom Survey

Many fans have been clamoring for a Code Veronica remake for a long time, even back before Capcom decided to remake Resident Evil 3.Code Veronica's popularity speaks for itself, but of course, it's hard to say what Capcom could do. Code Veronica is certainly an option, but there's reason to believe Capcom could just move on to RE5. Some people think the most likely is Resident Evil 5, thanks to a teaser during the post-credits scene of the Resident Evil 4 Remake. But, It could also go back to Resident Evil Zero, move on with the next mainline entry in the franchise, or any other number of things.

At the same time, surveys are nothing new in the industry and don't guarantee anything. It does reassert what many already believe, that Capcom will continue working its way through the RE franchise with remakes, but what comes of that remains to be seen.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
