Japanese developer Capcom has acquired two-thirds of the total shares of Minimum Studios, making the company a new subsidiary. The Taiwan-based studio has provided the animation for both cutscenes and gameplay for many successful Capcom titles, namely Resident EvilVillage, the Resident Evil 4 remake, and Dragon's Dogma 2. Minimum Studios was founded in 2018 by William Chang, an accomplished visual artist.

Capcom is a leading video game developer and distributor with hundreds of credited games, including the Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Ace Attorney franchises. Capcom currently boasts a number of subsidiaries across North America, Europe, Japan, and East Asia, including Capcom Mobile, which handles the distribution of iOS and Android games, and Swordcanes, a support studio that worked on Street Fighter 6. Despite the Resident Evil franchise being one of Capcom's biggest achievements, its highest-grossing game remained Street Fighter 2 for a long time before it was overtaken by Monster Hunter World.
