Capcom has revealed the results of its months-long Capcom Super Elections fan survey that asked, among other things, which of its series is most deserving of a new game or sequel, showing the result that most fans want a new Dino Crisis game. Capcom began hosting this survey in February and received more than 254,000 responses.

The Dino Crisis franchise launched in 1999, and although it encompasses five different games, three of which are in the mainline series, it hasn't seen a new game since Dino Crisis 3 in 2003. In February, the company had hinted at the possible revival of Dino Crisis, as well as several other abandoned Capcom franchises, ahead of the publisher/developer's 45th anniversary celebration, by including it as an option in the Super Elections survey.

The Lost Wild Could Fill the Gap Left By Dino Crisis

Fans of Dino Crisis will be pleased to hear that the upcoming survival horror The Lost Wild could fill the void left by Capcom's classic series.

While the survey results honor Devil May Cry 5 as Capcom fans' favorite game and Resident Evil 4 as the company's most influential, the dinosaur-themed survival horror series held true to the survey's early reports of the Capcom game fans want to see return the most, capturing 80,769 votes, or roughly 31.8 percent of the total votes cast in that category. Those results beat out second-place classic platformer/shooter series Mega Man, which received roughly 24.9 percent of the vote, and action-adventure series Devil May Cry, which trailed at about 23.8 percent of votes cast. Votes in the survey came in from 220 countries around the world, with the United States contributing the most at 28 percent of the total, followed by Japan at 21 percent and Brazil at 11 percent.

Top 10 Capcom Franchises Fans Want a Sequel To

  1. Dino Crisis
  2. Mega Man
  3. Devil May Cry
  4. Resident Evil
  5. Darkstalkers
  6. VS. Capcom
  7. Okami
  8. Ace Attorney
  9. Onimusha
  10. Breath of Fire

Although the top three series were the only ones to break the 20 percent mark of the total vote, there was a tight race for fourth, as fewer than 5,000 votes separated fourth place Resident Evil from eighth-place Ace Attorney, with Darkstalkers, the VS. Capcom fighting series, and Okami placing fifth through seventh, respectively. While the Resident Evil series tops the influential Capcom games chart, the three series outranking it as deserving a new game have all seen a drought of at least five years since a release, not counting the mobile-only Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat. Meanwhile, the Resident Evil series is still going strong, having released six games since 2019 and with two more Resident Evil remakes leaked in May.

While Capcom has not announced any official plans for reviving Dino Crisis, it seems like series fans are still holding out hope. After the announcement of the 2023 dinosaur shooter Exoprimal left Dino Crisis fans frustrated, and now the survey results, it may only be a matter of time before Capcom gives its fans what they clearly want.
