Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives players a great deal of control when it comes to the placement of houses, allowing them to select locations not only for their own homes but for their villagers' homes as well. However, as an island grows and changes some fans will wish that they had picked different locations for certain residences, and this may leave them wondering if it is fact possible to move houses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Simply put, players can move houses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, though it is not something that they can do at the earliest stages of the game. More specifically, it is only when the Resident Services tent has been upgraded to a full-blown building that fans are able to relocate homes, and that upgrade will not occur until a player has built ACNH's museum, Nook's Cranny, a bridge, and three additional houses.

Once players have access to the upgraded Resident Services building, the process for moving houses in Animal Crossing: New Horizons begins by having a conversation with Tom Nook. If the intention is to move the home of another villager, fans should select "Let's talk infrastructure," then select "I want layout changes," and then choose "An island home." From there the player will need to pick the villager that they wish to relocate and then place the kit they receive from Tom in the spot where they want the house moved.

With respect to how a player goes about moving their own home in ACNH, the process is very similar to what is outlined above, but the "About my home" dialogue option should be picked instead of "Let's talk infrastructure." There is also a difference in the cost of these two tasks, as it is 50,000 Bells to move another villager's house and only 30,000 Bells to move a player's home.

To note, houses are not the only thing that players can move in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as shops and the museum can be relocated as well. Just like moving residents' houses, this is done through the "Let's talk infrastructure" dialogue option and costs 50,000 Bells per move. While this may seem quite expensive to some players, there are ways to get rich fast in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and there is also always the option of taking things slowly.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
