Glen Schofield replied to a gamer who wanted to confront him in a live stream about their grievances by saying they were caused by a "clerical error." A minute later, he replied to another fan and said that someone had patched the wrong file as they were in a rush. Fans weren't pleased by this response as they shared their bad experiences while playing The Callisto Protocol, and were angry at the developers for releasing an unfinished game.

However, the high-ranking professional at Striking Distance Studios posted an apologetic tweet a few minutes later. He said he's looking for solutions and trying to figure out how this happened while claiming that the developers of The Callisto Protocol are focusing their entire energy on fixing the issues. Schofield concluded the message by saying he is accountable for the problems and takes full responsibility. Some players appreciated Schofield's apology and put forward more performance and technical issues that the developers might've overlooked. Schofield also said the developers would continue communicating with fans about the latest fixes and updates in The Callisto Protocol.

Despite the widespread criticism regarding the game's performance, The Callisto Protocol has performed moderately well on the commercial front. During its launch week, the game debuted as the 6th-best retail game in the UK, with more than 70% sales for PS5. Furthermore, the developers have confirmed they have six months' worth of content planned for The Callisto Protocol, which might boost future sales. The future updates will bring exciting features, like the Hardcore mode and New Game+.

The Callisto Protocol is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
