Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies continues to be criticized, with many players giving up on the mode already. As such, some players have called for new Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War content drops instead of more updates for Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies.

With Call of Duty: Vanguard only in Season 1 currently, fans can expect many more Seasons of content. As is always the case with the Call of Duty franchise, players will see new modes and features for all the game’s multiplayer modes. This includes Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Zombies mode, with Der Anfang likely to get some more objectives and locations added alongside the game’s first main quest easter egg. However, just because content is coming does not mean that players are excited about it.

On the contrary, some Call of Duty Zombies fans are making it clear that they want to see Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War get some more support. While there were downsides to that version of Zombies, like a limited Survival map count and the lackluster Operators, the core mechanics were heavily praised by the mode’s loyal fanbase. Further, it introduced Outbreak mode, something that Reddit user Wooden_Gas1064 clearly enjoyed.

As the player points out, Der Anfang’s objective-based focus was meant to appeal to those that loved Outbreak mode, though the Redditor still wishes that “Der Anfang never existed.” They point out how Outbreak had far more content at launch, ranging from multiple easter eggs to a variety of Wonder Weapons and objectives. With Outbreak only growing better with time, as mechanics like fishing and the Orda boss fight added to its replayability, many grew attached to the open world Zombies mode. As such, Wooden_Gas1064 calls for more Outbreak updates instead of continued additions to Der Anfang.

While this is certainly unlikely, the post did get hundreds of upvotes and several comments backing up the idea - showing that there would be some interest in more Outbreak content. As for what should be included, the Redditor that started the thread pushes for regions based on classic Zombies maps like TranZit and Alcatraz. They also want to see the Abomination mini-boss and Chrysalax from Forsaken added, which would make sense given how Outbreak expanded its enemy and Wonder Weapon lineup with the release of new Survival maps.

With Zombies Chronicles 2 requests prevalent as well, and the maps likely to fit far better into the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War system, there is a lot that could feature in the hypothetical updates for the 2020 game. Still, while many would likely enjoy the extra content, improvements for Call of Duty: Vanguard’s controversial mode will likely remain the focus.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
