Not too long ago, it was revealed that Call of Duty: WW2 managed to become the best-selling game of 2017, with Activision and Sledgehammer Games now being in the position to continue growing the player base and building user engagement throughout the rest of this year and beyond. In order to incentivize fans into action and to potentially scare the pants off of them, the publisher and developer have now revealed a brand new trailer for the first-person shooter's new Zombies DLC known as The Darkest Shore.

As seen below in the latest Call of Duty: WW2 trailer, The Darkest Shore is the next chapter of the Nazi Zombies story, and it's set a few days after the disaster at Mittelburg, with the heroes discovering that Doktor Straub is hiding out on an island north of Germany. In classic horror fashion, the entire island is surrounded by nearly impenetrable fog, while also being guarded intently by both the Luftwaffe and the Kriegsmarine. And naturally, considering the game mode, the area's also infested with hordes of the undead.

Call of Duty: WW2's The Darkest Shore will be included as a portion of the new DLC for the game, which has been titled The Resistance. Per Activision's timed-exclusive deal with Sony, the expansion will release first for PS4 on January 30, 2018, with launches on PC and Xbox One following at a later time. Furthermore, the forthcoming expansion pack will also include three multiplayer maps, as well as a new War Mode mission dubbed Operation Intercept.

Taking all of this into account, many would argue that Call of Duty: WW2 has already managed to successfully bring the franchise back to its roots by delivering a solid single player campaign, an addicting multiplayer, and of course, a fun Nazi Zombies mode. So, with The Resistance DLC set to bring even more content to the game's popular Zombies mode, it will be interesting to see if The Darkest Shore will satisfyingly scratch the itch for fans that need even more fresh gameplay.

Call of Duty: WW2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
