A frustrated Call of Duty: Warzone player has taken to Reddit's CODWarzone subreddit to bring attention to a serious issue with visibility in the game, posting a screenshot in which an enemy player directly in front of them is almost totally obscured from view. Visibility issues in Call of Duty: Warzone have long plagued fans, despite previous attempts by developers to fix the problems.

Whenever new maps are added to Warzone or old ones are updated, issues inevitably pop up. Various features of the environment making enemy players hard to see is a common problem, and this has on occasion led to maps like Caldera getting visually revamped to improve visibility. The game also includes a couple of features designed to help with visibility issues, including an optional aim assist for players using a controller.

However, a recent post from a user named Chyddo on the CODWarzone subreddit demonstrates that serious issues with enemy visibility are still present in the game. The post features a screenshot from Warzone, with the player looking down the sights of a weapon into a seemingly empty bank of smoke or fog. The caption on this image clarifies that there is "an entire person dead center in these iron sights," but they are almost impossible to see. The cause of the visibility issue in the post is not immediately clear, but it is evident that the recent updates to Warzone's user interface did not include efforts to address this particular problem.

Users in the comments below Chyddo's post offered a variety of theories about the source of this issue, as well as sharing plenty of their own grievances. Many users pointed out that in-game smoke effects, both those generated by gunfire and smoke grenades, have a tendency to make enemies nearly invisible, and this appears to be a major factor in Chyddo's situation. Others suggested that the seemingly invisible player might be using a particularly camouflaged cosmetic skin, which would lend credence to the claim that cosmetics in Warzone can offer unfair advantages.

This post by Chyddo demonstrates that, if nothing else, the opacity of smoke effects in Warzone might need a bit of tweaking. Other players have raised similar concerns in the past, and there has been some speculation about how some players might be able to gain unfair advantages by exploiting smoke clouds. However, given the development team's clear commitment to preventing cheating in Warzone, players can most likely be assured that any serious abuse of this visibility situation will be promptly addressed.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
