It's no secret to any that have played Call of Duty: Warzone that vehicles are something of a problem. They can either be incredibly useful or incredibly annoying depending on which side of the wheel one is on, and at the moment there's very little stopping players from over using them.

Queue Redditor darth_scion, who has recently suggested a rather ingenious yet incredibly obvious way to limit players' use of vehicles in Call of Duty: Warzone - making vehicles require fuel. Although darth_scion says they aren't sure exactly how this would be implemented, there are a lot of different ways it could be done which would have varying results on vehicle usage.

It should be noted that the goal of this proposed change shouldn't be to completely invalidate vehicles, as if that were the case it would be better to simply remove vehicles from the game, but instead to repurpose them or change the way players approach their use.

If vehicles required fuel to use in Call of Duty: Warzone, players would not be able to stick with one vehicle the entire match. The original suggestion claims that vehicles should have independently set fuel levels that, once depleted, would render the vehicle effectively useless, but naturally many think that the mechanic could be expanded upon beyond this. There is potential to allow players to siphon fuel from other vehicles, or allow certain perks to affect how much fuel one can carry or how efficient fuel usage is for certain vehicles.

While all of that seems rather interesting, it walks a thin line. Make vehicles too useless by not providing enough fuel or too complicated to be worth using and they will see no usage at all. On the other hand, digging too deep into these systems of fuel salvaging, perks, efficiency, and more could actually draw too much attention to vehicles, reinvigorating players' desire to use them more. Regardless, a change like this however it is implemented would likely stop certain cheesy methods such as flying in a helicopter all game and avoiding combat.

Whether or not a fuel mechanic could be added to the game remains to be seen, as so far it is just the idea of one Redditor. That said, many seem to agree that this, if done properly, could be a way to rebalance vehicles without removing them completely so that they still serve a purpose while not being overpowered and over relied on.
