Popular battle royale game Call of Duty: Warzone, the standalone title which was originally a mode in 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is receiving yet another famous character. Warzone is no stranger to iconic guest characters, with several having already made an appearance in the game.

Since its release in 2019 alongside the reboot of the Modern Warfare series, Warzone has taken on a life of its own. The popular battle royale mode is free-to-play, with the seasonal battle pass having cinematic icons sprinkled in as skins for good measure like Rambo or John McClane. The most recent additional skin for players to work towards was the "Mechagodzilla" skin which was released in line with Warzone's third season.

Looking forward to Season 4 Mercenaries of Fortune, a new skin has been announced for players to work towards. This time, the action crossovers that fans have become accustomed to is bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator to the battle royale. Season 4 officially begins today on June 22nd, however, fans won't be able to play as the iconic cyborg until mid-season. When the Terminator bundle does become available, both versions of the character will be on offer, the original T-800, and the upgraded T-1000.

In other news relating to the new season of Warzone, developer Raven Software has stated that Season 4 of Warzone will introduce a map rotation system. This was announced in response to fan fears that popular Warzone map Rebirth Island was going to be removed from the title at the turn of the new season.

It's good to see that although the sequel to 2019's Warzone has been announced called Warzone 2, development and updates are not stopping on the original just yet. The announcement for Warzone 2 came alongside a reveal of this year's mainline Call of Duty entry, a sequel to 2019s Modern Warfare. However, fans are yet to see anything of substance about the battle royale game, unlike Modern Warfare 2 which got a gameplay reveal recently at Summer Game Fest.

Warzone 2 is a set to release sometime in the later months of 2022, however, a key piece of information about the sequel is not likely to please players. It has also been announced that any and all items that players have earned in the original Warzone will not carry over to the sequel. This news may dishearten some of the player base, as players put hours and hours into the game to unlock in-game items.

Call of Duty: Warzone is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
