Call of Duty: Warzone fans have once again stumbled upon an overpowered weapon, with the Streetsweeper shotgun decimating players unlucky enough to be on the receiving end of its pellets. Fortunately, this gun’s dominance will be ending before it truly takes off, as a patch will be coming to Call of Duty: Warzone that sees the shotgun nerfed.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Streetsweeper has been dealing absurd amounts of damage, so much so that it has proven genuinely unstoppable at close range. While one would expect the weapon to deal slightly less damage due to its massive magazine size and high fire rate, the Streetsweeper shreds through opponents. While it would be bothersome enough when equipped via loadouts, the biggest issue is that the weapon is a common piece of ground loot.

Though the gun has been nerfed in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, the Call of Duty: Warzone version of the Streetsweeper is a completely separate case. As such, NRG player JoeWo pleaded with Raven to remove the gun as a ground loot source until it was nerfed. Surprisingly, the pro got an answer from the developer’s official account, with Raven confirming that it is “taking a close look” at the increasingly popular shotgun. It also promised a series of changes for the weapon in the next update for the game, though an ETA for this update was not specified.

While it is unclear what these changes will be, there is a chance that the gun will be removed as ground loot. On top of this, a similar approach to the one taken for Call of Duty: Warzone’s Sykov pistol could be seen. Punishing players with a damage reduction for equipping two overpowered attachments at the same time, Raven forced players to choose between a full auto effect and massive magazine size. This style of nerfing a gun could be seen again, as could changes to the damage, range, and fire rate.

Regardless, weapon updates are clearly becoming more frequent, something that the community is pleased with. Previously, players had to wait an entire month to see effective nerfs for guns like the DMR, AUG, and FFAR. More recently, however, these updates are more consistent, with Raven jumping on overpowered guns after about a week on top of the meta. With players also praising Call of Duty: Warzone’s preemptive nerfs, it seems like the new approach is going over well.

Thankfully, it seems as if the Streetsweeper is not going to be something to worry about for much longer. With Activision recently assigning developer Toys for Bob to Call of Duty: Warzone as a a support studio, the increase in staff could ensure that weapon updates stay as consistent as they have been in Season 3.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
