Activision's Call of Duty: Warzone continues to be a massively popular title and is set to continue that trend later this year when the highly anticipated Warzone 2 arrives. However, for all of its successes, the free to play battle royale hasn't always had a smooth ride thank in large parts to a cheating and hacking problem as well as a multitude of bugs and glitches. While the hacking epidemic has been largely contained thanks to the anti-cheat program Ricochet, bugs and glitches occasional continue to interfere with matches.

As detailed by developer Raven Software, Season 5 introduced a lot of changes to the Caldera map inside of Warzone. Outside of the visual changes including an active volcano spewing molten lava and flaming rocks onto the map, one of the biggest changes would be made to the lighting system behind the scenes. Witht he island storm now cleared up, Raven intended for the sunlight to be a bit more vibrant as it peeks through the lush jungle and billowing smoke from the now active volcano.

Unfortunately, it seems that many Call of Duty: Warzone players feel as though the lighting has been increased too much as the sun glare has proven to be too intense. In fact, the glare is so intense in some locations that many believe the original Warzone visual glitch from 2021 has returned once again. Many players have taken to social media, including the Warzone subReddit, to not only post screenshots of the issues, but decry the recent lighting changes.

One screenshot from Matt_McGyver on the Call of Duty: Warzone subReddit clearly shows the new issues with the lighting system. While looking out of a window, the sun appears to be blindingly large, obscuring the player's visuals by a considerable amount. Another from Rakatee shows their perspective when looking uphill with the sun's glare seemingly intensified from how it was prior to the update. Others commented that the lighting is very inconsistent with the northern parts of the map considerably worse and requested that the lighting update by reverted to pre-season 5.

While the posts have gained considerable popularity, Raven has remained silent on the current community concerns. In fact, Season 5 has already been confirmed as the last one for Warzone, so it's possible that something like this may be pushed to the side in order to ensure Warzone 2 is ready to go at launch. Whatever the case may be, players likely won't have to deal with Caldera for too much longer as leaked details for Warzone 2's map may be heavily influenced by Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer locations like Terminal, Quarry, Highrise, and more.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
