Call of Duty: Warzone has just gone through another massive update, but a familiar incident is spreading through the game's community again. While many fans are aware that Activision has been banning massive waves of cheaters, innocent players are claiming their accounts have been removed too. This is not the first time Call of Duty: Warzone fans have logged this complaint, and fans are waiting for a reply from the developers.

Bans are a common practice among the Call of Duty: Warzone development team. In general, player bans go through a review board before being implemented, as varying security members evaluate each case. While this leads to a slow response time, Call of Duty: Warzone has successfully banned thousands of cheaters from the game.

Twitter user Okami13_ reported the incident to Activision, sharing evidence of an unwarranted ban. The player explains they did not get an email or notification regarding the ban, and they had no third-party programs active while playing Call of Duty: Warzone. As far as Okami is aware, there is no reason for their account to be banned. To further support their point, the Twitter user found several Reddit users who reported a similar claim, suggesting that this might be a widespread mistake of wrongful bans.

It is currently unclear what is going on, and Activision has not officially announced anything regarding the matter. While there are often players claiming unwarranted bans, it is not as common for multiple players to report the same scenario. Call of Duty: Warzone alerts players when they are banned, and these player account restrictions seem to have appeared after the update.

To further raise fan concern, Activision has a zero-tolerance ban policy in which all bans are permanent and can not be repealed. Despite this, Call of Duty: Warzone bans have been reversed in the past, but only when the developer found ample evidence that something went wrong on its end. It is unclear if a similar case will happen, but as players continue to report unusual ban activity, the developers are likely to look into the problem.

In the past, Activision has not acknowledged unwarranted bans. Many Call of Duty: Warzone fans that are banned have simply switched to a different account, but that does mean losing all their earned content. While there is no obvious cause for these bans, fans will be monitoring the situation.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
