Fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Nicki Minaj in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone won't have to wait much longer. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is well into its fifth season, which saw the surprising return of campaign character Phillip Graves, and introduced two new 6v6 maps in Punta Mar and Strike. With a splashy new gameplay walkthrough of a campaign mission from this year's upcoming Modern Warfare 3 having just been revealed at Gamescom Opening Night Live, Call of Duty fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
Call of Duty is no stranger to fun collaborations with other big media franchises. This year alone saw the addition of several high-profile characters from the film and TV world cross over with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. Earlier in the year Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appeared in the game as an operator bundle, and just last season, three characters from Amazon's popular The Boys TV series, Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir, made appearances as well. This season, as part of a celebration of 50 years of hip hop, Snoop Dogg made his second mainline Call of Duty appearance after his inclusion in 2021's Call of Duty: Vanguard.
Now, the second of three hip hop legends who are part of Call of Duty's 50-year celebration of the music genre, Nicki Minaj, is set to make her debut in the game. On Twitter, ModernWarzone revealed that the Queen of Rap is preparing to drop in Call of Duty on August 24 for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. In the in-game photo, which was first revealed during the Season 5 info dump earlier this month, Minaj is decked out in all pink with a pink assault rifle to match.
The hip hop star is fresh off of her collaboration with the hit blockbuster Barbie movie, in which she contributed to the film's loaded soundtrack. The pink weapon she wields seems to feature a word beginning with a stylized letter "B" which looks somewhat like a Barbie logo, though it's unclear. While Barbie is a big part of Minaj's brand and persona, it's unlikely Call of Duty would collaborate with two different entities as part of one operator.
While the contents of Minaj's bundle are still unknown, it would be safe to assume that it would follow Snoop Dogg's Return of the Shizzle bundle in including the main skin, an alternate skin, three weapon blueprints, a finishing move, and some other smaller items. Rounding out Call of Duty's 50 years of hip-hop celebration is popular rapper 21 Savage, whose bundle is expected to release by the likely mid-season Reload, which is due out sometime in the next few weeks.
