Call of Duty: Warzone's next big update is set to go live late tonight/early tomorrow morning on December 16, depending on one's time zone. Regardless, the big Call of Duty: Warzone update is bringing the battle royale back to Season 1, integrating it with the recently-released Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and adding a ton of content for fans to look forward to. This includes the Rebirth Island map, which is the first new Warzone map since the game launched last March.

Call of Duty: Warzone's Rebirth Island map is a remake of Alcatraz from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout battle royale mode. As as result, the maps look very similar, with locations that should be familiar to those who played on Alcatraz in Blackout. As fans explore the Call of Duty: Warzone Rebirth Island map, they will also notice that the map is much smaller than Verdansk, which should create a unique dynamic.

Even though Call of Duty: Warzone's Rebirth Island map is smaller, it should still provide the same kind of Warzone thrills that fans have come to expect from the game. It will also still have plenty of vehicles for players to utilize despite it being much smaller than the Verdansk map, including what looks to be a couple of helicopters.

It remains to be seen which point of interest on the Call of Duty: Warzone Rebirth Island map will become the most popular, but one place does stand out. The Prison Block is smack-dab in the middle of the map, and may very well become the place many players drop at the start of any given match. Not only that, but Call of Duty: Warzone's Rebirth Island Prison Block has some significance beyond just being an interesting place to land.

As it so happens, the new Call of Duty: Warzone Gulag for Rebirth Island takes place underneath the Prison Block. It's in this area where players will have to fight for their lives in intense 1v1 matches. It will look quite a bit different from the Gulag showers that players are used to on Verdansk, with a metal detector in the middle designed to force players to think more carefully about how they approach their opponent.

The Call of Duty: Warzone Gulag is changing in Verdansk as well, though, with players now battling it out in a new area that is designed to look like a rough recreation of the popular Nuketown multiplayer map. Fans will be able to jump in to both new Gulags and the Rebirth Island map once the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 update goes live.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
