When Call of Duty: Warzone first launched in 2020, it did so with the Verdansk map, which is one of the big reasons why it took off so much in the battle royale community. Over a year later, though, and it's clear that Call of Duty: Warzone fans are anxious for some new experiences. They were treated to the Rebirth Island map late last year, and now it seems as though fans of the game have another new map to look forward to later in 2021.

As reported by VGC, Call of Duty: Warzone is supposedly adding a new map to coincide with the release of Call of Duty 2021, believed to be releasing under the title Call of Duty: Vanguard. This would be in contrast to how Rebirth Island debuted in Warzone, as that map didn't come until some time after Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched. But if this leak is accurate, that won't be the only difference between Rebirth Island and the new Warzone map.

Whereas Rebirth Island is a small map, this new Warzone map is said to be "the series' largest and most ambitious to date." The VGC report adds that Call of Duty: Warzone will "officially transition" to a World War 2 setting, though it's unclear if that means the new map will be completely replacing Verdansk or if Verdansk will still be accessible in certain playlists. Fans will need to wait for an official reveal to get specifics on that end.

Other details revealed by the VGC report point to the new Call of Duty: Warzone map being set in the Pacific theater of World War 2, with players able to explore this fresh environment using some new vehicles. There are no details on what exactly these vehicles are, unfortunately, so Call of Duty: Warzone fans will have to stay tuned for more information on that front.

As for when this new Call of Duty: Warzone map will be revealed, that remains to be seen. Fans shouldn't expect the reveal to happen at E3 2021, though Activision is apparently going to pull the curtain back on Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 during the Summer Game Fest kickoff presentation. And there have been previous reports suggesting that the Call of Duty: Vanguard reveal will happen through Warzone, so maybe more will come to light this summer.

Those interested in seeing Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 will want to tune in to the Summer Game Fest event on June 10 at 11am PT.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
