  • Call of Duty: Warzone will nerf the Renetti handgun.
  • The Renetti paired with an SMG conversion kit has been dominating the Warzone meta in the first half of April, not least because of its ridiculous TTK.
  • Raven Software is now working on some "adjustments" to the gun that are planned to roll out "in the near future."

Call of Duty: Warzone will nerf the Renetti, Raven Software has announced. One particular variant of the pistol that turns it into a makeshift SMG has been dominating the Call of Duty: Warzone meta for a while now.

Originally introduced in the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot, the Renetti handgun was later featured in Warzone and the 2023 Call of Duty. And while it was never uncommon to encounter it in online play, its popularity spiked with the start of Modern Warfare 3 Season 3 in early April. The latest seasonal update introduced heavy nerfs for the AMR9 and RAM-9, prompting players to start exploring other SMG options. The meta quickly shifted to a makeshift submachine gun in the form of a Renetti equipped with the JAK Ferocity Carbine Conversion Kit, which transforms it into a full-auto armament with a fairly ridiculous time-to-kill amounting to less than half a second.

Call of Duty Renetti Nerf Coming 'In the Near Future'

Call of Duty: Warzone developer Raven Software now appears adamant to nerf the problematic handgun in response to its meta dominance. To that end, the studio is currently working on some "adjustments to the Renetti," having said as much in an April 9 tweet. The developer has not committed to a more specific time frame for these changes beyond "the near future."

April 9 Warzone Update Has Actually Buffed Renetti Even Further

In the meantime, the latest Call of Duty: Warzone update that rolled out on April 9 has actually buffed the Renetti even further. The game's newest changelog reveals that Raven Software upped the handgun's max damage range by over 10%, from 11.68 to 12.95 meters. Its range was already a problem prior to the adjustment, with many players arguing that they were dying way too quickly to the Renetti at medium ranges.

As for close-quarters combat, a combination of the Renetti and JAK Ferocity Carbine Conversion Kit currently offers unmatched firepower; with a TTK of only 490ms, this makeshift SMG is 20% faster at neutralizing an opponent than the currently second-deadliest weapon in its class, the HRM-9. The early April update has hence shifted the meta to a weird state wherein the Renetti is simultaneously by far the best SMG and one of the best handguns in Call of Duty: MW3 and Warzone, depending on the loadout.

How long this continues remains to be seen. But judging by the social media chatter on the matter, the most vocal section of the Call of Duty fandom believes that the Renetti nerf cannot come soon enough.
