Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 6 is set to introduce an eye-catching Spawn skin and mark the return of the popular Zombie Royale mode, among many other additions. The newly announced season will be the game's final competitive period before the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty seasons typically run for about two months. For example, Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 started on August 2 and is set to conclude on September 26. Activision now officially announced Season 6, which is scheduled to begin the following day, September 27, at 9 a.m. PT.

The new season will introduce a Spawn operator skin based on the eponymous Image Comics superhero. That Battle Pass addition shouldn't come as a big surprise to fans, not least because the Call of Duty Season 6 comic collaboration already leaked online earlier this week. Other than Spawn, Call of Duty players will soon be able to unlock operator skins based on the Skeletor from Masters of the Universe, Evil Dead 2, and Hellsing, all of which are set to be added to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone via time-limited bundles. A weapon bundle containing the iconic chainsaw from Doom will also be part of the upcoming seasonal offerings.

Call of Duty MW2 Season 6 The Haunting promo

Furthermore, Season 6 will debut the first ever crossover between Call of Duty and Diablo, with Activision confirming that Lilith and Inarius will be added to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone's operator roster. The upcoming season should truly hit its stride come October 17, when this year's edition of the Haunting event is scheduled to begin. As is tradition, the next Call of Duty Halloween promo will reintroduce Zombies Royale, a limited-time mode that will allow players to alternate between fighting as human operators and zombified monstrosities.

Two of each Core and Gunfight maps will also be available at the start of Season 6, with the former pair including Mexican mansion La Casa and Koro Village, a remake of Toujane from the 2005 Call of Duty 2. And while the new multiplayer map retains the overall layout of its predecessor, it replaces its signature desert town aesthetic with that of a snow-covered village. Meanwhile, the incoming Gunfight maps come in the form of King from the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot and Fight, a small firing range filled with close-quarters combat opportunities.

The mid-season Haunting event will also introduce temporary map reskins of El Asilo and Embassy, both of which will be in service of its overarching Halloween theme. As is the case with the majority of the existing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 content, all new weapons and cosmetics coming in Season 6 will be transferable to Modern Warfare 3.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
