Activision Blizzard has been evolving the Call of Duty: Warzone experience with regular updates, and the battle royale is coming to mobile with the classic Verdansk map. Going through multiple iterations that changed POIs, Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone was reverted to the 1980s with Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War and replaced by the Pacific Caldera map around the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, but Verdansk is returning with the mobile release.

Teasing the release of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 and a mobile version of the original battle royale experience, Activision Blizzard has dropped multiple hints for what Call of Duty fans can expect from the franchise beyond the Fall launch of Modern Warfare 2. Now the developers of Call of Duty: WarzoneMobile have revealed a glimpse of the battle royale in a recent trailer that confirms the return of the original Verdansk map, which may have some changes that are exclusive to this version of the game. Because some veteran Call of Duty: Warzone fans have lamented the loss of Verdansk over the years, this return of the battle royale map may entice some lapsed players to give Warzone Mobile a try.

The trailer for Call of Duty: WarzoneMobile confirms some details that have been previously teased like 120-player matches, potential cosmetic options, and more. Sharing a similar look to the original Warzone, the trailer begins with three soldiers dressed in Modern Warfare gear jumping from the battle royale plane to plummet down to the map, leaving a red trail of smoke behind them. Getting below the clouds alongside several enemy squads, the three characters approach some Verdansk locations like the infamous Gulag, Gora Dam, and Stadium, returning to the original idea of the battle royale from the lush jungle of the Caldera.

On top of some weapons confirmed in the trailer, three vehicle types are shown off in action as well, such as several ATVs speeding by running soldiers, a few helicopters flying overhead, with one ultimately crashing into the Dam, and a soldier narrowly dodging a cargo truck. Like in the original iteration of Call of Duty: Warzone, these vehicles will help mobile players traverse the vast landscape of Verdansk to catch up to or avoid the increased number of players which may help some complete their Bounties. Given that Verdansk and the 120-player count were among the leaks for Call of Duty: WarzoneMobile, other hints dropped by dataminers may also be proven correct.

While many Call of Duty: Warzone players have expressed enthusiasm for the return of the Verdansk setting, some have speculated that it will be slightly altered compared to previous versions of the battle royale map. Although many comments on the Warzone Mobile trailer have pointed to various gameplay elements, some fans have responded with glee about the Costa Rican soldier highlighted in the video.
