The Call of Duty: Warzone battle royale game has been a massive success for Activision, and so it's no surprise that support for it will continue for the foreseeable future. But with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War set to launch in just a couple of weeks, fans may be wondering exactly how Call of Duty: Warzone will be impacted. After all, it's been said in the past that Warzone will be tied to Black Ops Cold War and leave Modern Warfare behind, and now we have more information on exactly how that will work.

It's been confirmed by Activision that Call of Duty: Warzone will stay tied to Modern Warfare throughout the month of November. But at some point in December, Warzone will line up with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Season 1. Essentially, this means Warzone will reset to Season 1 in December, with a new Battle Pass that will allow players to unlock content for use in both the battle royale and the standard Black Ops Cold War multiplayer.

Some fans may be wondering what this means for their existing Call of Duty: Warzone loadouts, but luckily, players will be able to keep all of their old loadouts, even after the Black Ops Cold War integration takes place in December. What is going to happen, apparently, is that all of the guns that players can unlock in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer from level 1 to 55 will be usable in Warzone, so players can expect an influx of new weapons. Essentially, players will be able to choose between two sets of loadouts: one based on Modern Warfare weaponry, and another based on Black Ops Cold War.

This is a rather ambitious plan for Warzone, but it should be generally well-received by the community. After all, some players have spent a significant amount of time with Call of Duty: Warzone's Gunsmith feature and building their favorite loadouts. It would likely be very frustrating for them to lose their loadouts just because a new game came out, especially if they plan on sticking with Modern Warfare and aren't getting Black Ops Cold War right away.

On the flip side, it's easy to see how this could lead to balancing issues. Overpowered Black Ops Cold War guns, like the XM4 in the beta, could throw the Warzone meta completely out of whack. It will be a challenge to be sure, and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out come December.

For now, Call of Duty fans can still enjoy Warzone Season 6 and the ongoing Halloween-themed Haunting of Verdansk event.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
