Call of Duty: Warzone received a big update overnight that makes a number of changes to the game. Among these changes is the addition of a brand new type of contract called Most Wanted, which lets players give their location away to everyone on the map in exchange for big rewards. Fans were initially excited about the Most Wanted contract in Call of Duty: Warzone, but now its addition has left some people upset.

Instead of Infinity Ward simply adding Most Wanted contracts as a new type of contract for players to complete on the Warzone battle royale map, the studio used them to completely replace regular bounties. For the uninitiated, Call of Duty: Warzone bounty contracts give players a target to hunt on another team, who they could kill for a cash reward. On the flip side, those being hunted as a bounty target would get rewarded if they managed to survive for a certain amount of time. Battle royale games tend to suffer from long stretches of no action, but bounty contracts ensured that Warzone players could always find a fight if they wanted one.

Removing regular bounties from Call of Duty: Warzone's contracts pool has not been received well by the community. Top streamers and pro players have spoken out against the decision, along with a number of fans. It's unclear why Infinity Ward made this decision, and so far the studio has yet to comment on the issue.

This isn't the first time Infinity Ward has replaced something popular in Call of Duty and gotten backlash. Some may recall when Infinity Ward replaced regular Gunfight with Gunfight OSP, which led to widespread complaints online. More recently, Infinity Ward did away with Warzone battle royale Trios, though the mode has since been added back.

A similar situation happened with the standard Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer. Infinity Ward added the Crash 24/7 playlist to the game in place of the more popular Shoot House 24/7. The response to this was so negative that Infinity Ward reversed the decision right away, getting rid of Crash 24/7 and adding Shoot House 24/7 back to the mix.

It's unclear why Infinity Ward continues to add new features by replacing popular ones that are already in the game. Each time it seems to just upset the game's community, and then Infinity Ward ends up bringing back the popular feature or mode anyway. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if the studio continues to do this with future Modern Warfare Season 3 updates.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
