One of the first things players consider when going into a Battle Royale game is the best places to land. This is important for several reasons, but the biggest is to get the best loot as quickly as possible. From there, what players do depends on what missions need to be completed, how far players are from the zones center, or if there are too many enemy players and escape is required to stay alive. This is generally the gameplay loop in the average Battle Royale game, and Call of Duty: Warzone is no different.

Players don't always consider, though, how they can gain map control. This is a concept that is more commonly seen in Arena or Team-based shooters, but it can be applied just as easily in Warzone. One way this can be applied is by looking for a "Power Position." This "Power Position" will give any team or player a strong advantage over enemies as long as it can be held. Whether that be a better line of sight or a higher vantage point, having control of these positions is key to success. Players who favor snipers can be found in places such as these, making them all the more desirable. A good sniper can be a terror to opposing operators in Warzone, so knowing the best spots will be the key to success.

5 Al Mazrah City – Al Mazrah Highrise

Al Mazrah Highrise is one of the best sniping spots in COD Warzone 2.0

Al Marzrah City is one of if not the most common landing spots in Warzone 2.0. If an operator/team decides to stick around and utilize the Al Mazrah Highrise, specifically the South Structure, it can provide one of the best vantage points in that sector of the map. It is easily accessible from multiple stairways and three separate ascenders found on the building. Being the tallest structure on the map, it overlooks popular locations in the city such as the Embassy, Highway, and bridge. It is also difficult for opposing players to call in air-based kill streaks on said position and parachute to it themselves without being spotted.

Unfortunately, due to its location and the numerous entrances, operators set up there will likely always be in for a fight against opposing players. They will have to constantly be on high alert for anyone sneaking up. If the position is comprised, an escape route is difficult as the only realistic option is to parachute off the building. Operators will be very vulnerable to other players shooting at them from just about anywhere. If an operator wants to hold this position, it's recommended to bring the best loadout possible and be ready for a fight.

4 Sattiq Cave Complex – Comms Tower & Battery

The base of the Comms Tower is a great sniping spot in COD Warzone 2.0

The Sattiq Cave Complex isn't a very popular landing location, but does feature many appealing sniper perches for players looking to avoid the close-quarter action at the more popular landing spots. At first glance, the Comms Tower seems very appealing as a sniping location. However, it lacks any cover whatsoever. Therefore, it would be best to use the hilltop surrounding the base. The rock formations around the Comms Tower provide great cover from all directions, allowing players to duck behind the rocks for cover to heal and replenish their plates during a firefight. It is also a good vantage point to overlook the Sattiq Town, the Hillside Hamlet to the Northeast. Players can challenge anyone coming over the hilltops from the ruins, and players coming from the Northwest mountains of Zaya Observatory.

Unfortunately, the position is very open, allowing players to easily parachute in and/or use kill streaks such as the mortar/air strike as there is no overhead cover. The vantage point from the Hilltop Ruins is higher. Players can call kill streaks in from this location; however, it lacks the cover the Comms Tower hilltop has. The late game can be quite scary here, as players can attack the position from all directions. Operators will have to stay on alert or risk being caught off guard.

3 Sattiq Cave Complex – Hilltop Ruins

Hilltop Ruins is a unique sniping spot in COD Warzone 2.0

Remaining at the Sattiq Cave Complex, the Hilltop Ruins is another great spot to be for snipers looking to take out unsuspecting players. The appeal of this position is it that is the highest hilltop in this sector of the map. Overlooking areas such as the Comms Tower, yellow bridge, southern pipeline, and the tiered farmstead village, this position can be a snipers' paradise. It can also be very powerful late game if the circle favors the position, leaving players coming from the North and West as easy pickings.

As with all the sniping spots up to this point, it is vulnerable to players parachuting in, as well as any other confident snipers looking to hit long-range shots from the outskirts of Sa'Id City and Hafid Port. Operators perched on the Comms Tower hilltop can also provide a decent fight, as there is a bit more cover there. This position is also a bit more susceptible to being rushed by multiple teams at the same time due to its lackluster hilltop cover and open area around the ruins.

2 Al Malik Airport – Control Tower

The Control Tower is one of the most common sniping spots in COD Warzone 2.0

Al Malik Airport is a very popular location. The most desirable is the Control Tower, found at the end of the airport runway. An extremely sought-after sniper location for both beginners and veterans alike, there are three ways to enter: the interior elevator cable ascender, a stairwell from the second floor, or an ascender from the roof of the tower. The control room has some of the best cover surrounding it for any sniping spot, with a roof to prevent air-based kill streaks and parachuting players from being effective. This spot also has a sight line to every part of the airport except the Airport Entrance, making it one of the best "Power Positions" on the map.

As with any spot, there will be downsides. While the Control Tower has very few, some are worth mentioning. Opposing operators that ascend to the balcony below the control room can pose a threat if enough well-placed grenades are thrown into the room. Escape from this position is quite hard in the team variations of Warzone, especially if a coordinated team blocks the few exits.

1 Zaya Observatory – Telescope 3

Telescope 3 is one of the riskiest spots to snipe in COD Warzone 2.0

Telescope 3 at the Zaya Observatory might be the highest risk, highest reward sniping spot. The entire Zaya Observatory can be viewed from this position, as well as some of the roadways leading to and from the mountain. With only one entrance being to drop from above, only other parachuting players can realistically contest for the position. Operators use the circular gantry walkway on the structure to gain even more access to certain sight lines on the map. Thankfully, this position has one of the best escape routes, as players can jump the worker housing to the South or parachute off the mountain completely.

Players looking to take this position face opposition as soon as they parachute toward it. The spot has virtually no cover, and is extremely vulnerable to air-based kill streaks. The only hope of survival is to use the gantry walkway. Operators can also be easily spotted from the other sniping positions on the map, making them a constant target for multiple teams or players. If confident snipers want to use this as their vantage point, make sure to bring the best one possible for the job.

Warzone 2.0 is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC on Battle.net and Steam.
