Being five months into its life cycle, it is clear that Warzone 2 is still trying hard to provide new gameplay experiences for fans. With the free-to-play nature of the exciting battle royale opening the game up to a huge catchment of potential players, the importance of implementing post-launch content to keep fans engaged cannot be understated.

The main avenue in which Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 deliver this post-launch content is via seasonal updates, giving fans a formulaic structure of when to expect new content and gameplay metas. It is clear that the advent of these new seasons is a big occasion for many within Call of Duty's fan base, with Infinity Ward recently revealing information of what the upcoming Season 3 will entail. While a lot of the season's content is related to the core multiplayer of MW2, Warzone 2 is still set to receive a massive amount of new additions in the coming days.

Call of Duty Warzone 2 New Gulag and Features

Season 3 of Warzone 2 is set to come on April 12, and the new game modes that the update is set to bring can be said to make up a large portion of the season's Warzone content. The high octane respawn-enabled mode Plunder is set to return to Warzone 2 with Season 3, for example, which sees teams of players compete to command the largest amount of cash.

As well as this, Season 3 of Warzone 2 will introduce the Massive Resurgence game mode, which will take the fast-paced gameplay of Resurgence to the whole of Al Mazrah. Finally, Season 3 of Warzone 2 will boldly introduce ranked play to the title. Being introduced mid-season, this ranked play will be the ultimate test for players in the already competitive gameplay of Warzone 2.

Upon Season 3's launch, Warzone 2 will be outfitted with a range of new game mechanics, such as redeployment drones that litter the map, or tempered plate carriers that allow for more armor to be equipped. As well as this, Warzone 2's core playlists will be fitted with a new Gulag map in Season 3, which takes the form of the brand-new Gunfight map Blacksite.

Later on in-season, Warzone 2 will receive deployable buy stations to allow for purchases on the go, as well as UAV towers that will be scattered around the map of Al Mazrah. With these changes complimenting the new aforementioned playlists coming to Warzone 2, it is clear that Season 3 is aiming to shake things up in a big way.

The ambitious Tarkov-like loot and extraction mode DMZ is of course also set to receive some changes in the upcoming Season 3 of Warzone 2. As of April 12, DMZ will include a bartering system that will allow players to swap their gear out for other items at buy stations, as well as workbenches that allow for the modification of contraband weapons, at a price.

Season 3 will also introduce Active Duty Operator Slots, which allow players to choose between a selection of operators to embark upon different missions with, managing the risk and reward of each operator's earned gear and weapons. A brand-new faction is also coming to DMZ with Season 3, possessing a range of new missions for players to tackle. With new backpacks and bosses also being littered throughout the mode, it is clear that the additional content for Warzone 2's many modes within Season 3 is a lot to take in.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
