Call of Duty: Warzone 2's latest blog post reveals some substantial changes coming to the battle royale looting system, including standardizing the backpack and armor plate system. When it was initially revealed last year, Warzone 2 showed off more than a few changes to help differentiate it from its incredibly popular predecessor. One of the bigger and beloved additions to Warzone 2 was proximity chat, a way for players to hear those around them. Some players, like the streamer Dr Disrespect, have used this feature to really mess with their opponents and create some entertaining matches.

However, not every change made to Warzone 2 sat well with the community including a new movement system that has eliminated popular Call of Duty strategies like slide canceling. As players continue to voice their opinions on things they'd like to see added to the game, Infinity Ward continues to make changes almost weekly, whether it is to fix the various bugs currently plaguing the experience, adding new features, or improving existing ones. The latest update to Warzone 2 makes some of the bigger changes to the existing core systems yet.

A new announcement from Infinity Ward gives players a sneak peek at some of the planned changes coming to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 in season 2. While the post detailed changes to various parts of the game, including UI, audio, and other gameplay features like the Gulag, the developer also confirmed that it is standardizing the 3-plate vest system. The different vest sizes no longer exist in Battle Royale loot, and each player will now start with a 3-plate vest. The developer is hoping that this change gives each match a more reliable feel to each engagement right from the start.

In addition, the Warzone 2 backpack and looting system is also getting an overhaul. With Season 2, all loot will now drop out of all containers instead of the old menu/window system. Alongside of that, Medium/Large backpacks are no longer available and eliminated players will drop their loot onto the ground. Every player will now have the same backpack to help reduce the impact of stacked items, equipment, and killstreaks. Ultimately, Infinity Ward is hoping this change will improve the pace of gameplay, lowers the time needed to be inside of menus, and gets players back into the action faster.

Following the Warzone 2 Season 2 delay, many players are wondering what other big changes are in store for the popular title. Earlier this week, it was also revealed that Infinity Ward is making an economy change where buy station prices are getting lowered with more cash being added to lootable spots around the map.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
