One player of Infinity Ward and Raven Software’s free-to-play shooter Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has shared a clip of a potentially game-breaking bug that lets players keep the jailer’s minigun after surviving a round in the Gulag. In an effort to address ongoing issues with the battle royale title, Infinity Ward recently released a new patch for Warzone 2 ahead of the Season 2 update scheduled to release later this month.

Despite the game’s massive popularity, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has been met with a mixed response from many gamers from nearly the moment it was initially announced. The sequel to 2020’s battle royale hit, Call of Duty: Warzone, the free-to-play shooter has been beset with complaints about changes to some core gameplay elements as well as the presence of numerous, sometimes game-breaking bugs. While the pending Season 2 update promises to deliver yet another round of bug fixes, as well as the all-new Ashika Island Warzone 2 map, the rocky state of the game has already caused some gamers to get their battle royale fix elsewhere.

A short clip shared on the r/CODWarzone subreddit highlights the latest in a string of bizarre bugs encountered by Call of Duty: Warzone 2 players, this time showing a player seemingly keeping the jailer’s massively powerful minigun in their inventory after surviving a fight in the Gulag. Posted by Reddit user MRichards18, the clip shows a player grabbing the menacing minigun at the start of the Gulag match and quickly proceeding to eliminate their opposition. After receiving a popup indicating their victory, the clip closes as the player redeploys and plummets towards the battlefield with the minigun still in their inventory.

Responses to the video were mixed, with some players frustrated by the appearance of another high-profile bug while others pondered how to get a minigun of their very own in Call of Duty: Warzone 2. Referencing the recent announcement that 1v1 Gulags are coming to Warzone 2, one player noted that being able to retain the minigun after a match could be a good incentive for teams to beat the jailer if 2v2 Gulag were to remain in the game. Another commenter shared a story of unexpectedly coming into possession of the powerful minigun after attempting to pick up a grenade off the ground.

While wielding a weapon as powerful as the jailer’s minigun is undoubtedly satisfying, being able to drop back into Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s online battlefield with such a powerful weapon in tow definitely creates some balance issues. In any case, leaving the Gulag with a souvenir of slaughter is a better outcome than encountering the glitch sending players to Warzone 2’s Gulag at random.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
