Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies received a hefty amount of criticism on launch for a variety of missing features, relatively few of which have been added into the game so far. However, two months after launch, Treyarch is breaking from this pattern to deliver the much-requested server pause feature. According to a recent blog post, Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies players will finally be able to pause the game soon.

Although Der Anfang matches take a round-based approach, they can still last for quite a while, which has made the absence of a pause feature increasingly frustrating for gamers. Call of Duty Zombies matches have a history of taking a long time, forcing players to have someone babysit a crawler if they had to do something else in real life, such as use the bathroom. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies added a server pause and created a massive quality of life enhancement as a result.

With frustrations continuing to build over Call of Duty: Vanguard's divisive Zombies mode, some gamers have begun requesting updates be given to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War instead. However, the most recent Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies update may change this. According to an official blog post from Treyarch, which serves as an early 115 Day preview, the mid-season update is bringing a variety of new features. This appears to include a dedicated server pause, though implementation will reportedly be completed in a future update.

The post goes on to note that transferring Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies to a dedicated server infrastructure has been rockier than expected. Once things are up and running, the gameplay will hopefully be smoother across the board for matches of all sizes. However, the process of adding a dedicated server pause for Solo and single-player Private matches is reportedly more complicated than it may seem, leading to the delay.

The update to Der Anfang also includes classic survival gameplay being added to “Shi No Numa” in the new Void Objective, the ability to level up artifacts during a match, and three new Pack-a-Punch camos available at the Pack-a-Punch machine. Additionally, the developers are adding new support weapons. Killstreak weapons can now be found in the Support menu at the Crafting Table, including the Warmachine and Deathmachine. Players can also expand their arsenals with the Combat Shield, Katana, and brand-new Welgun SMG. Several more major updates are expected to arrive later in 2022.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
