Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies is finally giving fans the content they wanted from the beginning. For some, this is too little too late, as a remake of a map that was already remastered several times before is hardly as exciting as something new. Regardless, Shi No Numa Reborn has set up an exciting finale for Vanguard Zombies, as fans will be visiting Egypt in the final map.

While there is obvious potential in a Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies map that incorporates Egyptian locales and mythology, it is the return of the Chaos story that has truly gotten the community talking. How exactly Chaos elements will be inserted into the Dark Aether story remains to be seen, but with Alistair Rhodes mentioned, and the Sentinel Artifact restored, the future certainly seems bright. As such, the final Zombies map for Call of Duty: Vanguard can and should utilize several elements of Chaos gameplay.

Bringing Back Some Chaos Story Wonder Weapons

While the final map could introduce a completely new Wonder Weapon, Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies being primarily been built around old content makes that seem unlikely. From the Ray Gun to the Wunderwaffe DG-2, nostalgia has been the move thus far, with timeless Wonder Weapons simply being given a fresh coat of paint. As such, Treyarch could be bringing back another Wonder Weapon in the upcoming Egypt map, and the Alistair’s Annihilator seems like a great choice.

The closest thing the Chaos Story had to a Ray Gun, this weapon was featured on the underrated map Dead of the Night and fired off acid shots in its basic form. It could be upgraded a few times, too, with players able to go through some minor quests to unlock ammo that shrunk down foes or sucked them into a tornado. Multiple upgrade quests for this weapon could make the Egypt map highly replayable just like Dead of the Night was, so Alistair’s Annihilator would be a great choice for a returning Wonder Weapon.

Treyarch should also swap out the classic Monkey Bomb with the Chaos Story’s Homunculus. Not only did these creatures talk back and have a nasty attitude, giving them personality, but they were far stronger than Monkeys on top of that. This is because they would attack anything that was attracted toward them for several seconds, including boss Zombies. Seeing them again would surely bring back a wave of nostalgia for Chaos fans, and if a focus on mythology returns, it would be fitting for them to come back.

Bringing Back a Chaos Story Mini Boss and Characters

The Chaos Story maps may have had too many special Zombies and mini bosses for players to contend with, but that does not mean that the enemies were inherently bad. The Blightfather, for example, was a solid boss Zombie that became a pain to deal with purely because it was on maps with other special enemies. The same could be said for the Catalyst Zombies, Gladiators, Gegenees, Werewolves, and so on. As such, Treyarch should only bring one Chaos mini boss (preferably the Blightfather) back for the final map.

Lastly, it would be great to see Treyarch give Chaos Story fans closure or confirm that more will be done with that story’s characters going forward. Through radios, documents, and the final cutscene, fans should learn what happened to Scarlett and her companions after the events of Ancient Evil. Even if Treyarch kills them off or gives Medusa an off-screen defeat, it would be far better than leaving the story unfinished. With the door now open for the Chaos story's characters and gameplay mechanics to make a return, Treyarch should not stop with the Sentinel Artifact.

Call of Duty: Vanguard is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
