Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has revealed another big-time collaboration, this time with AMC's hit TV show The Walking Dead. Having just launched Season 1 Reloaded, which added two more characters from The Boys, the new 6v6 Rio map, and more, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 seems to be gearing up for its next big season.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has only been out for two and a half months, and it's already brought in some high-profile characters from the film and TV world. As part of the leadup to Denis Villeneuve's highly anticipated sci-fi sequel, Dune: Part Two, Call of Duty added franchise protagonist Paul Atreides, as well as antagonist Feyd-Rautha, to Modern Warfare 3 as purchasable operators. Most recently, Call of Duty's Season 1 Reloaded saw the return of Amazon's The Boys with the debut of Firecracker and A-Train in Modern Warfare 3.

The Call of Duty developers explain how the matchmaking process works in Modern Warfare 3 and commit to sharing more updates with the community.

As Season 1 of Modern Warfare 3 approaches its conclusion, Call of Duty has announced its next big crossover, this time with the popular zombie apocalypse TV show The Walking Dead. Call of Duty released a YouTube video that recreates The Walking Dead's classic show opener using shots from what looks to be MWZ's Urzikstan map with the same grimy sepia filter and iconic music. The trailer included photo appearances of The Walking Dead's two most integral characters, Rick and Michonne, as well as an appearance from Modern Warfare 3's own Vladimir Makarov.

The Walking Dead features a wealth of awesome characters to choose from, but seeing that these Call of Duty collabs typically only bring in two operators at a time, it's fitting that Rick and Michonne will be the ones as leaders of the show's ensemble. It may be possible that this could become an ongoing partnership with The Walking Dead which sees even more characters from the show join the game's roster in future seasons, similar to how The Boys returned with A-Train and Firecracker. The trailer also seems to possibly be hinting at some sort of Walking Dead-themed refresh or event coming to MWZ, which would make complete sense, though what exactly that may entail remains a mystery.

The trailer didn't include any sort of concrete release date for when fans can expect this epic Call of Duty crossover to take place. However, it would be safe to assume that The Walking Dead may be headlining Modern Warfare 3's Season 2, so fans should keep an eye out for any new Call of Duty info as Season 1 begins to wrap up over the coming weeks.
