Call of Duty fans have recently returned to the Xbox 360-era Call of Duty games, like the original Modern Warfare 2 and the first Black Ops, but some are experiencing input delay when playing on Xbox Series X/S consoles. The Xbox 360 Call of Duty games are what established the franchise as an industry leader, with blockbuster titles like Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, World at War, Black Ops 1, Black Ops 2 still remembered fondly by fans to this day.

Unfortunately, these classic Call of Duty games have been difficult for fans to revisit. Besides dwindling multiplayer populations, players have had to deal with hackers ruining matches and more recently, wonky servers that have made it next to impossible to get into a match. Luckily, Activision recently fixed the Call of Duty multiplayer servers, making it possible for fans to jump back into the classic games.

Call of Duty fans have returned to the 2009 Modern Warfare 2 and the first Black Ops especially, as it's now significantly easier to find a match in both games. The player counter is malfunctioning at the moment, so it's difficult to say just how many Call of Duty fans have returned to these old-school games, but it's enough that players can safely relive the glory days. The downside is that some players have reported input delay when playing on Xbox Series X/S consoles, so mileage may vary. It's unclear if this issue will get fixed, but with these Call of Duty games potentially coming to Xbox Game Pass, one has to imagine that a fix is a distinct possibility.

While it hasn't officially closed, Microsoft does have the green light to complete its acquisition of Activision Blizzard. New Call of Duty games won't hit Xbox Game Pass on day one until the 2025 entry at the earliest, but the older Call of Duty titles could join the lineup much sooner. No timetable has been announced, though so fans should keep their expectations in check when it comes to Activision-published games like Call of Duty hitting Game Pass.

The chance to play classic Call of Duty games could be enough for hardcore fans of the franchise to sign up for Game Pass, though. With Black Ops 2 still retailing for $49.99, getting the old Call of Duty games on Game Pass will add undeniable value to the service. But only if the technical problems people have been running into get ironed out. Regardless, Call of Duty fans may want to check out Modern Warfare 2 or Black Ops 1 this weekend because the servers are plenty populated right now, and it's possible the input delay issues are not universal.
