Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the standalone Warzone battle royale are currently experiencing a major bug impacting player progression. This zero XP bug is making it impossible for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone plans to earn any XP in the game, in turn keeping them from leveling up their Season 3 Battle Pass and earning the rewards associated with it.

Disgruntled Call of Duty fans have made numerous posts on Reddit and elsewhere complaining about the bug. It doesn't appear to be impacting every Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Warzone player, but it's enough to cause concern. It's also unclear if player progression is still being tracked in the background or if players are simply never going to get any of the XP for the matches and challenges they've been completing.

Since Call of Duty players have to purchase the Battle Pass, it's understandable why many are upset by this bug. Making matters worse is the fact that the Battle Pass is a limited-time thing, meaning Call of Duty players only have the duration of Season 3 to complete and unlock everything in their Battle Pass. The zero XP bug makes this impossible, and some are worried that they won't be able to properly complete their Season 3 Battle Pass by the time Season 4 rolls around.

Infinity Ward has yet to comment on this bug at the time of this writing, but there are a number of other issues that the studio is working on. One of the big reasons is the long matchmaking times in Modern Warfare and Warzone that have been plaguing players since the release of the latest update, and another is an issue with voice chat not working properly in standard multiplayer or the battle royale.

Generally speaking, Infinity Ward has been quick to address bugs and other issues in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone as they arise, and so it seems likely that the studio will make this bug a priority. And with new Call of Duty updates released on a weekly basis, it's possible that fans will have a fix for this issue as early as next week.

While no bug fixes have been announced for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare May 5 update, we do know some of the new content that's being added to the game next week. The big attractions are Gunfight Knives Only, Gun Game Reloaded, and Demolition playlists for standard multiplayer, but the new update is sure to contain even more than just that. Fans will need to hang tight for official patch notes to learn more.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
