During the most recent PlayStation State of Play presentation, Activision offered fans their best look yet at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's campaign. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign trailer has been met with general enthusiasm from the community, with many exciting to see how Captain Price's globe-trotting story will play out. However, the trailer ended with a brief mention of PS4-exclusive content, and that has understandably soured some on the game.

It's been announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PS4 will have access to an exclusive game mode for an entire year. Spec Ops Survival, which will presumably be similar to Modern Warfare 3's version of the mode and will essentially be like Horde, will only be available in the PS4 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare until next October. That means Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PC and Xbox One are simply out of luck until then.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PC and Xbox One may be disappointed to learn about this exclusivity deal, but on the bright side, the main Spec Ops mode will be available to everyone at launch. Like past games, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Spec Ops mode features co-op missions that players can play through with their friends. Rumors have said that this year's Spec Ops will have some open world elements to it, but that has yet to be confirmed. All will be revealed on October 5, so fans won't have to wait long to find out more about what Spec Ops will have in store.

It seems as though PS4 owners getting Spec Ops Survival for an entire year before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players on PC and Xbox One is the "day 1 advantage" that Activision hinted at in the past. It appears as though it's the trade-off for PC and Xbox One players to get all of the DLC maps at the same time as PS4 owners. Whether or not it's worth it is up for debate, but the response to this decision has been met with widespread anger from the community.

Reddit and social media are ablaze with people complaining about the decision to give Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PS4 players an exclusive mode for an entire year, but it's unlikely to change anything, unfortunately. It may mean less people pick up this year's Call of Duty on PC or Xbox, but Call of Duty: ModernWarfare is still likely to be the top-selling game of 2019 regardless.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will launch on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
