Many gamers are still out playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with good reason. The player-base is still moving strongly, especially during this current pandemic. However, not all Call of Duty players necessarily use all of the content available in their game.

Luckily for players looking to free up extra space on their hard drives, the campaign portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Spec Ops can be deleted from players' hard drives separately. The instructions differ between Xbox One and PS4, but they both end in the same result.

Xbox Instructions

Deleting the Modern Warfare campaign and Spec Ops is pretty easy on Xbox One and shouldn't take too much time.

  • First, players should hover over the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare icon on the Xbox menu, but not starting the game up.
  • Second, players should press the menu button and pull up options
  • Third, players can hover over which parts of the game they want to delete and press menu button again
  • Finally, players can choose the uninstall option on whichever parts they want to delete

Anything related to the campaign or Spec Ops can be deleted without worry if players have no desire to play those sections. If players aren't sure if something is related to the campaign or Spec Ops, it's better to leave them alone and not delete them.

PS4 Instructions

Unfortunately for PlayStation 4 players, this process is going to take some time. Players must uninstall in entire game from their consoles and then choose to reinstall what they want to actually want to keep. While this will save a lot of space, it can result in a long waiting period due to having to wait for the rest of the game to reinstall itself.

Even more unfortunately are PC players who currently don't have a known way of freeing up space with this method. PC players either have to have the whole game or none of it. The community may find a way to pick and choose on PC going forward, but nothing is currently known at this time. It's also very possible that the ability to pick and choose what to install can be available from the start in future games.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
