Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players now have access to the game's most recent update, which addresses several issues, including game progression, glitches, and Zombies. This latest weekly update to Modern Warfare 3 seeks to fix several issues that have been affecting players, with the game's infamous Zombies mode being a key focus of the new patch.

Since its inception in 2003, the Call of Duty franchise has remained at the top of the first-person shooter genre, providing fast-paced action and unforgettable storyline missions for players to experience and enjoy. While the most recent release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been somewhat of a mixed bag for players, developers have worked hard to address problems within the game. Despite a satisfying gameplay loop and impressive visuals, Modern Warfare 3's lackluster story mode, as well as its major departure from traditional round-based Zombies, has left the Call of Duty franchise in somewhat of a tricky spot. However, Modern Warfare 3's most recent update addresses several core issues affecting the game, delivering a few tweaks fans of Zombies won't want to miss.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Showcases New Maps Coming in Season 3 Reloaded

A new trailer showcases Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's new Multiplayer maps, which are set to be added soon alongside the Season 3 Reloaded update.

While changes to multiplayer abound, Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode received quite a bit of attention in this new update. Numerous changes have been made to Zombies' Dark Aether Rift, with teamwork being prioritized now more than ever. All squads can now contribute to Zombie kills during Relic Attunement, with the kill requirements being decreased overall. Several bugs in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies were also fixed, such as a bug that caused the final obelisk to activate earlier than intended, as well as fixes for reload animations and Wonder Weapon displays.

Modern Warfare 3 players will notice that several updates to multiplayer have also been made, including changes to the Escort game mode as well as the fan-favorite Call of Duty map Skidrow. Poor performance of the game mode has been fixed, as has the match timer and the lights located on the MAW, which previously disappeared during matches. Other issues addressed in this new update include fixes for Hardcore Quick Play, which no longer mistakenly displays the "Free Trial" tag. Weekly Challenge countdowns will no longer display an invalid time during the midseason update. Other visual improvements include fixing an issue involving overlapping weapon images on the HUD when players had two different melee weapons equipped. The max weapon level prerequisite to unlock Weapon Prestige Camos is also now working as intended.

Modern Warfare 3's Season 3 is over halfway finished at the time of this update, with both multiplayer and Warzone players expecting the reveal of Season 4 to take place later this summer. However, things are also heating up outside of Modern Warfare 3, with Treyarch's next Call of Duty entry believed to be a major part of Xbox's upcoming June showcase. While unconfirmed, this new Call of Duty title is rumored to be Black Ops 6, continuing off of Treyarch's incredibly popular and successful Black Ops series.

  • Bug Fixes
    • Hardcore Quick Play will no longer display an erroneous Free Trial tag.
    • Weekly Challenge countdown timer will no longer display an invalid time as the Midseason update approaches.
    • Fixed overlapping weapon images on the HUD when two Melee weapons are equipped.

PROGRESSION

  • Max Weapon Level prerequisite for Weapon Prestige Camos is now consistently applied, as intended.
  • Challenges involving Stim usage no longer require at least 50% regain to progress.

MAPS

    • Added collision to prevent players from reaching an exploitable location on the Roof.

MODES

  • Escort
    • Resolved an issue causing poor performance and lack of functionality upon joining a match.
    • Lights on the MAW will no longer appear to detach as the match progresses.
    • Implemented various fixes for match timer inconsistencies.
    • Care Package crates are now destroyed upon collision with the MAW.

PERKS

  • Commando Gloves
    • Reloads are no longer canceled upon moving when the Automatic Tactical Sprint setting is enabled.

EQUIPMENT

  • In Hardcore game modes, the minimap is now displayed on the HUD while an EMD tracking device is active on an enemy.

RANKED PLAY

  • Restricted the Scratch 20-L Suppressor Attachment.
  • Restricted the EMD Mine Equipment.

ZOMBIES

  • When completing the Calling Card Prestige 9 Mastery Challenge, the correct title, "Let 'Em Have It!" will now be displayed.
  • Fixed a bug where splash notifications after completing Armory Unlocks and events appeared blank.

GAMEPLAY

    • All squads can now contribute Zombie kills to the Relic Attunement.
    • Decreased kill requirement to complete Relic Attunement.
    • Fixed a bug that resulted in the final obelisk being activated earlier than intended, breaking the story sequence.
  • Fixed a reload inconsistency that occurred after Pack-a-Punch with the JAK Wardens Conversion Kit equipped on the Lockwood Mk2.
  • Fixed a bug where Wonder Weapons appeared as common gray instead of gold rarity in a Dark Aether Rift.
  • Resolved a bug that resulted in players getting stuck in out of map locations after being grabbed by a Mimic.
  • Resolved an issue at Rainmaker's Fortress where Mortar AI incorrectly targeted players with an intact Sergeant's Beret disguise.
  • Resolved an issue where completing one squad's Attunement prematurely ended another's.
  • Launcher Camo Challenges for MWII weapons have been adjusted to facilitate completion.
